I guess I should've expected this. I got to Mike's Place, a sports bar in Tel-Aviv to watch the game. Incidentally, it's same once where a suicide bomber from the UK swam to shore, entered, and then blew himself up.

Anyway, they could only get the Steelers-Titans and Jaguars-Seahawks. They unsuccessfully tried to hook in satellite.

The Steelers-Titans ended before the Dolphins' game and they BRIEFLY switched to the Dolphins. I got to see Denver's extra point.

Then the station switched to stupid snow-skiing music videos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I never got to see anything else.

I wonder if they the guy at the bar knew what he was doing. Israelis are seldom receptive to advice but if someone has a trick please give it to me. I'd be willing to risk giving it to the guy at the bar and whatever may come afterwards. It's worth the risk!

I have no idea how to wire a satellite but hey, 013 made a sweet highlight package that more than covers everything worth seeing.

Guess what. I just checked METV's website and they're televising the game this week. Just one problem: with the time difference, the game doesn't even start here until after 11 P.M. I won't be able to hear the game, because the bands start up around then and by the time the game will have been over, the buses will have stopped running.

Who knows? This may be the last time they show a Dolphins game here this season. Will I ever get to see a game this season? Someone lend me a shoulder and a hankerchief.

Get yourself a satellite and quit your belly-aching!! Or you could just move out of Israel...whichever is easiest!!

Going to a place where a suicide bomber once blew himself up...thats nuts!!

Good luck though!

your first mistake was going over to israel. going there is like walking around Washington DC with a huge target on your chest when the beltway sniper was on the loose. get the hell outta there man!

I think Miamian fits in. ;)

Sorry to hear about your luck, M......If I were you I'd do everything I can to set up a ride home after the game. Not sure of the logisitics in that but, it beats walking home.....which I would probably consider also....I aint too bright though. :)

:shakeno: yeah maybe everyone in SF should move out too, considering that all the experts predict the big one is going to eventually hit. You don't get Israelis. It's part of life there. You condition yourself to live with it, because it's your home.

Miamian...be careful over there, we want to see you make post #1501.
I didn't even realize that I had 1,500! Really you hardly ever think about terrorism once you're over here.

When I came on my "decision" trip almost two years ago I had the same feelings most of you do. In fact, I had a four-hour layover in Frankfurt before the leg to Tel-Aviv (ironic that I should go through Germany to get to Israel). While I was in Frankfurt, I was debating on whether to chuck the rest of my ticket and trade in for a return flight to Miami. After arriving it's pretty clear that people go on with their daily lives. However, as a precaution many public places like restaurants, supermarkets, large shopping centers, train stations, etc have security guards with sensor wands. Mike's Place is one of them.

Back to subject at hand, I really feel that I'm supposed to be here. I don't mean to bellyache, but sometimes you have to let off some steam. There are very few people who could possibly understand my pain. Soccer here is the sport and the only other one that appears to have any popularity is basketball.

BTW, I appreciate the concern for my staying literally intact. ;)

Not everyone can chose where to live people. I think if you understood the religious/cultural history of Israel you would understand why some people chose to live there regardless of the danger....but this is better left for the Politics Forum. I lived in Italy in the ealry 70's and couldn't even see the Superbowls when my Dolphins won it...I had to listen to the games with my older brother...been a Fin fan ever since. :) Hope to see us win another SB soon...it has been a long 32 years!!!

Right back at ya...will probably be there again this Sunday...Shoot me an IM and maybe we can set something up. But outside is the place to be...no audio inside the restaurant.
