1. Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that the Browns and TE Jordan Cameron were unable to work out an agreement on a long-term
contract and will instead play out the final year of his current deal.

Wonder if Miami would be interested next year?

2 . @ an Rapoport reports that the NFLPA has scheduled a vote for Friday regarding a new drug policy that will include all 32 players reps.

I wonder if it true.

But if it is true... The suspensions may not play out like many think. As is the case below with the Browns.

3 . Browns Mike Garafolo predicts Browns WR Josh Gordon will have his suspension reduced to eight games.

No way Cameron isn't tagged next year. Plus I'm sure he's going to be looking for something close to what Jimmy Graham got. As of right now we're predicted to be over the cap next year.

From what I've read on the vote we would get Dion Jordan back immediately but still unsure about Reshad Jones' status.

1. Cameron is not getting Jimmy money. That guy must be out of his mind.

2. Over the cap? Thought we are rolling over like $20 in cap space. (Plus getting rid of some over paid LB's, not to call any names out)

I thought we were going to be in good cap shape next year. you better bet your ass that wheeler is gone, and quite possibly Ellerbe. we need to upgrade the lb corp. hartline may also be a casualty if laundry shows out this year.

We've got roughly $9 million...although not sure how much we've spent on picking up Sheppard and whatever other players we sign this year for injured guys. That gets carried over. We rolled over $18 million last year and our cap hit this year is estimated to be $132 million according to Spotrac.com http://www.spotrac.com/cap-tracker/nfl/ with a total cap space of $141 million. Next years cap hit will be $142 million. http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/miami-dolphins/cap/2015/. This years salary cap is $133 million...next year who knows. Might be $140 million (in which case we may be over by $2 million before any cuts or contract restructuring and possible carry over). Best case scenario is we get to carry over $7 million of the cap savings from this year, cap goes up 10% again to $146 million and then we're looking at our cap space as $153 million giving us $11 million under the cap. Roughly $6 million of which will go to signing the rookie class giving us about $5 million to play with before cuts.

Our free agents next year....Knowshon Moreno, Louis Delmas, Matt Moore, Jared Odrick, Daryn Colledge, Samson Satele, Charles Clay, Jimmy Wilson, Jason Trusnik, Derrick Shelby, Jonathan Freeny, Michael Thomas...those are the significant ones. With not much money to sign most of them.

cameron will get top 5 money or he'll be tagged...pretty simple

Obviously its a sellers market.

But I dont see how Cameron is worth $7 a year

Vernon Davis 5/$37
Jimmy Graham 4/$40
Gronk 6/$54
Witten 5/$37
Rudolph 5/$37

Davis/Witten are about $7.5 a year
Gronk at $9
Jimmy at $10

Looks like standard starter caliber TE's in the NFL are getting 5/$35 deals.

Upper TE's 5/$37

Gronk and Jimy obviously broke the mold at 4/$40 and 6/$54

Toss in that Gordon is looking at a HUGE contract next year.

you are still gonna pay a would be free agent high end at his position player like cameron is top 5 money if he hits free agency...unless he takes a discount for you which given he rejected their offer already it doesnt sound like is in the cards...

camerons a good football player though...i'd pay him top 5 money in a free agent market...

I can see this one turning out Dwayne Bowe style.

Pay a 'big name' player money, but don't know how to use him.

Bowe got PAID and now sits around.

Cameron is pretty damn good and he's been playing with nothing at QB. Put him on a team with a real QB and he would probably be putting up top 5 TE #s easily.

Maybe this is a better breakdown of our current cap.

Bowe sucks and only had one good season. Overrated. Cameron Jordan, by not taking the Browns first offer, is banking on repeating the breakout season he had last year. If he does he's guaranteeing himself top 5 money. If he fails he'll end up signing for less more likely. He had 80 catches for 917 yards and 7 TDs. If he repeats that he puts himself in the top 5 conversation.

Don't forget that we have our own TE, Charles Clay, who will be a free agent next year as well.

I'm sure we will be interested but I doubt we get him. He is a Dustin Keller type seam threat TE. Lazor prefers guys with size for the red zone who can both catch AND block well. If all he wanted was a seam threat he would keep Charles Clay. But when Clay's contract is up I suspect we let him walk if Lazor is still here.

Look at Cincinnati's two TE's. That's what Lazor is looking for in a TE. Someone 6'6 with speed who is too big and strong to be covered by a DB and too fast to be covered by a LB. A guy who can run block and move guys as well as wall off edge rushers in pass protection.

A true TE. Nowadays with all the little rocked up WR Shannon Sharpe type seam threat guys, a real TE is usually laughingly called an "in line TE" or a "blocking TE." But what Lazor wants is a complete TE he can use as a chess piece to overload defenses if they try to use situational substitutions.

They put in 7 DB ... no problem. We go no huddle and steamroll them in the run game. They put 8 in the box, no problem. We use the TE to pass protect or run a route. They show blitz, he pass protects. Ultimate chess piece TE .... like New England has with Gronkowski.

We're not letting Charles Clay walk. And TEs like you're describing don't grow on trees. If they did every team would have one. The league would be full of Jimmy Graham's and it's not.

I wouldn't take a discount to play in Cleveland. That ownership churns through coaches like I churn through toilet paper after eating 3 burritos from Taco Bell
