Cowboys game blacked out, more blackouts coming

This news will be jarring to some South Floridians. Folks have gotten spoiled with the idea of having the Dolphins on TV every Sunday during the season. Even during the 1-15 year, all the games were sold out in time to televise them.
But those days are gone. The club is going to make that clear. No owner can absorb the cost of buying his own tickets, particularly when the number of unsold tickets hover around 13,000 as it currently does for the Houston game.

really cant afford it!!!! dolfans cant afford tickets yet still!!! sell out games & support this mess of a franchise.

Two 7-9 seasons in a row will make this happen...Plus sucking in a bad economy makes it worse.

I could afford the tickets but gave them up after last year's pathetic home stand.

Didn't feel like wasting good money on a poor product...

Fear of Regular Season BLACKOUTS!

The Dolphins also plan to make it clear to their fans that tickets sales for regular-season games are not going as well as the team would like and that could mean blackouts of several meaningful regular-season games are about to happen.

Several home games on the regular-season schedule -- starting with the Week 2 game against Houston -- are so far from being sold out that the club is warning fans the only way to see them might be to buy tickets.

Games against Buffalo, Denver, and perhaps even Dallas and Washington may not be sold out in time to lift the local TV blackout unless local fans purchase tickets at a rate not yet seen in 2011.

Start Buying people!!

Well I'll be at the game vs Houston and that's all I can control. If people decide they want to go shopping, eat at a restaurant, have mid-day sex, etc...so be it. The game experience in itself is only four hours or so. If people can't spare that amount of hours during the day (once a week), again, so be it.

so ross wants me to pay for a ticket when his product on the field sucked last year and really from what I have seen doesnt look like its gotten much better...I think i will go to Kers wing house in orlando since we are not in miami's zone...sorry ross, you lose again...

I'll believe this when I see it actually happen... I remember plenty of threats of blackouts in the years past, but the day before the game someone always steps up and buys the rest of the tickets (publix, ross, w.e)

How about not charging that much for the most meaningless of the preseason games? They're not doing much to combat the illegal streaming.

if a regular season game gets blacked out, then that's lame, but i cant really blame fans for not buying tickets to a preseason game, let alone a preseason game in which the starters dont play basically.

This League mandated blackout is such a joke in a bad economy. People SHOULDN'T be blowing their money on a mediocre football team when they are struggling to keep their homes. The problem is, teams all over the country need to start getting blacked out in order for the league to make a change. A cross-walk doesn't get put in until someone gets trucked by a bus.
