Coyle's Style to Have Bengal Flavor

I never thought I would see the day when Miami would model themselves after the Cincinnati Bengals.

His defenses made stars out of the 2 corners they had. Phins 2 corners has just as much talent if not more so.... we should keep an eye out for that!

Agreed. It is not like he can screw up the front seven. There is too much talent there. The secondary needed someone who could help turn that group around.

Does Bengal flavor taste like chicken? Sorry, couldn't help myself.

i'm subscribed because his secondary played fairly well with some of our cast off scrubs filling in, crocker comes to mind. im curious to see what kind of improvements he can make in our back line.

If this guy can teach Sean Smith how to catch a football, I'd be pleased.

If Sean Smith could catch a football he'd be considered elite. And the funny part is that he wouldn't be.

Im expecting big years from Jones and Jimmy Wilson.

I got a Pro Football mag while on vacation and read our depth chart on their that Misi will man the middle and Dansby is outside. Im not sure that is wrong but I thought I did hear that Misi was going to be moved to MLB. If true, that spells Dansby sacking QB on blitzes multiple times even though he will be asked to cover TE's.

With Soliai and Starks in the middle, I see some good things here.

I'm interested to see how the defense ends up as Zimmer was one of, if not the, longest tenured coaches on the Bengals staff; even longer than the head coach (granted only one year). Really he got his start under Mark Duffner (ironically another guy who we inquired about for the coaching staff) while at Holy Cross, and also coached under him at Maryland and the Bengals (Duffner was DC for a year or 2 in Cincy I believe). But he was also around/worked with Paul Pasqualoni, Dick LeBeau, Marvin Lewis, and Mike Zimmer. Now based on what I've seen on the Bengals D since Lewis has been there, these are common traits I see in what they want from players.

1.CBs that will bump and run with WRs and play the ball in the air rather than zone coverage.
2.Safeties that are capable of running up to the line and making plays in the run game, but you also need a center field FS that can read and react.
3.DTs that will get pass rush pressure up the middle
4. DEs that will get their hands up in the passing lanes and play the run strong.
5. LBs that can run

That's most definitely wrong. Everything indicates Dansby in the middle, with Burnett as SOLB and Misi as the WOLB

Odrick is primed for a big year also. I think we'll finally see his first round value this season, out of a base 4-3 with multiple wrinkles that create different ways of getting to the QB. He had a solid 6 or 7 sack last season in the 3-4. Sure, Wake attracted extra attention, which released Odrick to an extent to get more shots at the QB, but that's hardly likely to change this year. If it does, it means Odrick is demanding attention of his own.

I see our D-line being even better, top 5 maybe, and our secondary start the path to being very decent by NFL standards.

Coyle's style to have Bengal flavor

In his first six months as the Dolphins defensive coordinator, Kevin Coyle has changed Miami’s scheme from a 3-4 to a 4-3. When it comes to his style, the former Bengals secondary coach said that it will be a mixture from those who he coached with in Cincinnati.

“I’m going to draw things from 35 years in coaching but it will be a little bit of what Dick LeBeau does, some of Marvin Lewis and some of Mike Zimmer,” Coyle said during Miami’s recent minicamp.

Coyle had been part of the Bengals staff for 11 seasons before taking the job in Miami the week of the Senior Bowl. Coyle and first-year Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin had been longtime friends, but haven’t been on the same staff until now.

Hopefully the "flavor" will not be burned toast.
