http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/6775900 DAVIE, Fla. (AP) - Given that they used a second-round draft choice to obtain him, the Miami Dolphins clearly think John Beck might be their quarterback of the future.

Daunte Culpepper, however, still believes he's the quarterback of the present.
"For me," Culpepper said Friday, "the future is now."

So while Beck worked out with his new team for the first time at the start of a three-day minicamp, Culpepper - still slowed by major knee surgery he underwent in 2005 - pedaled away on a stationary machine. Still, he intends to be "100 percent" ready when the Dolphins open training camp in about two months.

If C-pep is a dolphin when traning camp rolls around there is no doubt that he will be the fins starter. not only will he be motivated, but he also has much more time to graps cam offense. who better to throw the deep ball to ginn than C-pep

He can't honestly believe that he is still in the fold??

Why not, cause over the last three months the media felt the need to speculate only negative things, things that simply weren't true?? Daunte looks pissed, and he should be. He's gotten a raw deal over the last few months. Our fans have been brutal, to Daunte and Cam.

The very day we drafted Beck, Mueller and Cam still said in a PC that night that their number one priority at QB was getting Daunte healthy. Granted, that could be just to up whatever trade value they think he has, but the fact that Green wasn't brought in draft weekend sorta signals, to me at least, they want to give DC a look when fully healthy. Plus, there's no need to throw a rookie QB right into the fire. I mean, Cam and co. didn't do so when A.J. Smith drafted Philip Rivers, Brees still was able to play out the final years on his contract before Rivers was given the controls.

I agree that if given a chance to mend CP will be our starter and will be on fire. Great players love being told they cann't or should I say showing they CAN!

he said that when healthy, he felt he was still an elite QB... life would be VERY good for us if he came back to pro bowl level... think that through a second... with our defense if the offense became explosive there would be no limits to our season

well of course CP is going to say he can start .. He is his own agent.. He is marketing himself.. He wants those millions of $$ .. He can't make himself look like he is damaged goods to the NFL world -- even though he is .

Amen :)

I don't remember hearing from Cam or Randy that Daunte wasn't in the picture. Just a bunch of speculation and unwarranted hatred directed at a guy that wants to be out on the field helping his teammates win.

Sad but true. :nono:

Money-wise and competition-wise of course he believes he'll be the starter, as any player in his position should. It might be a little different if Trent Green was here, but he's not (yet). Hopefully Daunte will get his chance, and if he's still broken John Beck can save the day!

I can't stop thinking about it. It's the number one reason why I don't want to get Green, even if he's released. I DO NOT want a band aid. Daunte Culpepper, when healthy and in form, is better than just about anything we could hope for from any QB.

Unfortuantly, this is 100% accurate...

I wanted the brotha to suceed here. But that's little chance that's going to happen..

Truth is Culpepper is not going to be the same player in which the Dolphins need him to be. Daunte is a guy who's relied heavily on his physical gifts..And even if he gets as healthy as he can possibly be, he still wont have that same exact mobility in which helped have on 5 best seasons every for quarterback in 2004...

Daunte's mobility was his bread, and his rocket are was his butter. He needs both of those to be an effective quarterback. He was never a cerebral type, scan defensese, study film guy. Without both of those attributes, he simply isn't the same...

Trent Green will by all means be this teams starting quarterback...
