Granted that TBaum was only the assistant GM in 2005 when the Jets drafted Mike Nugent but my guess is that he was pretty heavily involved in making a kicker their top pick in the 2nd round. The Jets had a guy who made over 80% of his FG attempts in 2004 and still spent the 15th pick in the 2nd round on Nugent. Nugent has gone on to be a career 83% kicker and while clearly not worth a 2nd round pick he's not even in the same league as Roberto Aguayo. Aguayo is arguably the best kicker in college history, a guy who's automatic inside of 40, and he could go anywhere between rounds 1-3. The Phins also had an 80+% kicker this past year, although he missed 3 extra points. With the increased difficulty in making extra points and the need for consistency in all areas of scoring it would not surprise me at all if we took this kid if he's still sitting there at the top of the 3rd. I'm not advocating for it but I just have a feeling that he's going to be a target in the draft, especially if we were to gain an extra pick in the top 3 rounds.

Having said all that I know we have bigger needs but after the steady pile of crap we have picked in the 2nd and 3rd rounds over the years I honestly wouldn't be mad if we took a guy who's a near lock to be a sure thing.

Commence the thumbs down...

I'm surprised there is a kicker rated this high.

Could you imagine this board if we take a kicker in the second round?

Every time I see t-bomb in front of a camera

I cannot believe that he is running things for the Dolphins now.

I mean, EVERY other GM when they take over a team at first do the EXACT opposite of what t-bomb has done.

They try and clear space and bring in younger players, and move away from huge long term contracts like the two he signed when he came here.

Franks did a good enough job. But holy crap this guy is accurate as hell and it would be awesome to see more Mexicans in the NFL

Well, the Mangini connection everyone was worried about completely fell through, so might as well run with this one.

i love me some aguayo but let someone else draft a kicker in the 2nd round please

That would be a really good pick. Aguayo is a stand out.

Franks was good. No more drafting kickers.

I think the jury is still out on Franks but I would like to give him another chance. He had a very low amount of field goal attempts, missed 3 at 40+, which isn't too bad. He had a good amount of extra points but missed 3 which was at the bottom of the league. He was middle of the pack on touchbacks. Also there wasn't too many games we had where there was pressure on the kicker.

Nope. I do not think he values kickers in terms of his resources.

as an upgrade over grimes? or do you see him at guard
