Linebacker Channing Crowder knows no one will ever replace Zach Thomas.

But with Thomas gone, Crowder realizes it’s time he plays up to his potential.

He offered a glimpse of it during Saturday’s night shutout of Kansas City.

Playing at full throttle in the Dolphins new scheme, Crowder had five first-half tackles, including a sack, and forced a fumble to set up a second-quarter touchdown.

he's definitely stepping it up. upgrades on the front 3 making life a little easier for him. he's made more plays this preseason than i've seen in 3 years of mostly average play.

If I am not mistaken, his rookie contract is up after this season. Can anyone verify? If it is, this has to be a priority. He plays with the same energy that Zach played with IMO.

free agent at the end of the year. make him make plays in the regular season b4 we pay him.

I think he's trying to step it up in hopes of getting a new contract. He knows he either steps it up this year and gets a new contract or he's sent packing. That being said i hope he has a great season and he's on our defense for years to come.

I wasn't sure what to expect out of Channing this season with the new F/O and new defense, but he's been a pleasant surprise. I think he's going to be a beast in this D. Crowder, Merling, Langford, Bell, Lehan, some young talent to build around.

i think the offseason traning program helped him tremendously, hes much quicker and more explosive, i also feel he played the last few year inhibited, he could'nt truly express himself on the field because of other leaders,, for this guy to play to his potential he must play with passion and feel loose like hes not stepping on anyones toes. he now is our emotional leader on defense and can play uninhibited.

I agree with a bunch of different posts on this thread. He doesnt have other leaders on the defense to get in his way, I think he will really excel in this defense and is going to have a really awesome year. Hey, who knows, maybe he will turn into a pro-bowler.

It's because this years " D " is set up for him to make plays. Just like in past years it was set up for JT and ZT to make plays.

Watch how many plays Akin Ayodele makes this year cuzzz it won't be a'lot.Why because, he's playing the same role as Crowder has before.
