I just may be the only man who loves the Gators and Canes. I just love the Canes a little bit more.

Somehow I misplaced my quota of affection for the Gators at about age 3. Although I did admire Ron Zook. That guy deserved a lifetime contract.

Channing Crowder looks much better than I expected, every bit as nasty but not as stiff in space as I evaluated in college. Probably I understate every Gator and will continue to do so.

he has a chnace to start on the outsidelinebacker position for Seau or Spragan because Seau is injured

790 the ticket news flash reports Crowder will start at MLb Saturday night. Is Zach injured? This being the dress rehershal for opening day are we seeing a changing of the guard or is Nick just trying to see what he has in the young fellow.

Good for Crowder. He worked hard during training camp and is a huge relief for this team. Hopefully he can showcase his talents well enough to show Saban that he is the real deal.

I definitely think that there's a really good chance that Crowder will get some significant playing time opening day, but I don't think that he'll be starting barring injury of Thomas, Seau, or Spragan. I definitely do expect him to see some action opening day though!

During the regular season, what I'd like to see is Crowder and Thomas alternate between outside and middle linebacker. No more Kevin Mawae seeking out Zach at middle linebacker every play because it could be Crowder in the middle and Thomas on the outside.

who are the starting LBs then? Spragan-Crowder-Seau? (for this weekend)

I like this. Lets see what the young man has to show us. I know it's just preseason but hopefully the Bucs are also game planning for Saturday.

Who is voting on this?Seau - Thomas - Spragen. Hey , I love Crowder. He looks like a steal and will be on the field at some point. The first game , barring injury , will be these guys.

Guys , Crowder will see time in the 3-4 with Zach.

Now I am not saying this will happen or not. But this is just a possibility though some of you will write this off right away.

I am not saying this is the plan remember.

Let's say Crowder starts and plays awesome and shows alot of promise.

We already know no one expects anything out of us. Saban might be realizing we aren't a true contender. I think we will be, but Saban is probably more realistic. With that said.....

There are a couple teams like GB who might be in need of Thomas's services. He could still warrant maybe a 3rd especially if it's to a team expecting to make the Playoffs.

Reasons why it would work is simply the Thomas and Bates factor and GB needs help at LB'ER.

Only reason this is an option is because Saban might realize that Thomas will probably not be a part of this team in 3 years or som wehn we might be truly competitve, so it would be wise to get compensation while he can.

Who knows? I don't think this move is significant in anyway. I think it is just the fact that Thomas is hurt. But Crowder has been impressing and if he plays solid again it might get Saban's wheels turning.

Personally, I think it should be Spragan-Thomas-Crowder

Bingo! I think this is the method to the madness. When Zach went down with his mild ankle thingy, it gives Saban a chance to rest Zach knowing what he can do, and you put the kid in there to get some MLB experience for when/if zach is out with injury, so then you move crowder to MLB and Seau and Spragan cover outside. Nice versatility in our LB core!

i didnt vote, I didnt like the insinuation of Zach being gone. Zach is a staple to this D, make no bones about it. Zach should retire a dolphin. And I think that is a couple of years away yet.

I have been a huge fan of Zach and I still am but he is not a good fit for our new defensive schemes. Even though he's green Crowder is a better fit for this defense. I know its sacrilegious but we should consider trading him to a team which runs a 4-3 and needs a middle linebacker.

wont happen with Barnett firmly entrenched as the starter. I do however see Zach being traded next offseason
