Chicago Cubs first baseman Derrek Lee broke two bones in his right wrist in a collision with the Dodgers’ Rafael Furcal and is expected to be in a cast up to six weeks.

Lee is likely to miss two to three months with the injury, The Chicago Tribune reported Thursday.

The reigning NL batting champion and a two-time Gold Glove winner fractured the distal radial and distal ulna bones in a freak play during the seventh inning Wednesday night in Los Angeles. Furcal led off with a bunt single to the right of the mound. Reliever Scott Eyre dove for the ball and flipped it toward first base with his glove.

It's a damn shame.. never good to see a great player like that get hurt. And poor Cubbie fans, they can never catch a break.. I feel for them.
 
Maybe there really is a curse in Chicago. It really is a shame. I go to Chicago once a year to catch a weekend of Cubs games and the field and fans are great. I also have a blast there. I really thought that if the Cubs could somehow stay healthy this year they could make a run at the Wild Card and possible the World Series, and who knows maybe they still can if Prior and Wood come back strong. I hope for the best though for the team.
 
Great....first I lose Prior on my fantasy baseball team and now Lee. :boohoo: Gonna be another long year for Cubbie fans.
