I believe that there should be a reasonable way to keep Daunte Culpepper. He is right about not having a fair chance at being the #1 QB. The dolphins without a doubt rushed him into starting the season last year, and because of that it has damaged Daunte in the long run from becoming what he is capable of. I believe that if he has clearance to start the season this year, and be 100%, we should keep him and restructure his contract and cut Cleo Lemon. Lets face it, Daunte Culpepper is the best QB on our depth chart. Trent Green, regardless of passing his physical I believe can not lead this team to the playoffs. John Beck is not ready to start and needs to be taught. Daunte has the heart of a QB which I respect a lot in him, and I believe he would do whatever possible to stay with the dolphins and get his shot. I don't see Daunte Culpepper being released or traded. Call me crazy, but I believe he's gonna come back and put a lot of pressure on Trent Green for that spot and that's exactly what we need. You can clearly tell Daunte doesn't wanna be anywhere but Miami. Why wouldn't fans want that? Thats dedication. Dolphin fans cannot go critizing Daunte for what he is doing, because as much as we wanna hate him, we still need him. Do you guys actually believe Trent Green can bring us anywhere?

Cpep.. MAY have been great.. but he isnt anymore... yes he has heart in battling back from injury... but injuries are a harsh reality in sports.. and one way or another... he will be reminded of it.

CPepper has a heart of a cry baby! Tired of his cry baby episodes already.

As much as I believe Daunte can. I do respect Daunte for all the work he has put into rehabbing his knee, and his desire to be in Miami....but this whole thing is not about Daunte, it's about the Dolphins. Right now, Trent Green gives the Dolphins the best chance to win from week 1. As much as everybody here wishes Daunte could be 100% week 1, I don't think he will be.....and even if he was, there's no guarantee he'll be the Daunte of 2004, and not the Daunte of early 2005, 2006.

This is getting a little sickening. Where is all this "Daunte has heart" crap coming from???

My toy pomoranian has more heart than C Pepp, he's showing his true colors right now. I dont want that kind of player on this team. Please LEAVE already so we can get on with our future.

The dolphins without a doubt rushed him into starting the season last year,
He's as much to blame as anyone.

"Culpepper said. "I'm going to work out every day I'm here and continue to get myself healthier and physically better the best way I can.""

And apparently he's still not healthy.

Do you guys actually believe Trent Green can bring us anywhere?
No, but we got him.

Good lord, we need to release him NOW. This is becoming a major (and annoying) distraction. Seems every damn thread is about Culpepper.

Actually, what we need is a QB with the talent to read a defense and run the offense in an efficient manner.
Jay Fiedler had heart , but lacked a little something called physical talent.
Daunte Culpepper may have heart, but he lacks a brain.
Geez, it sounds like the Wizard of Oz:)

If pepper had so much heart, he would restructure his contract, with low base and huge incentive clause and compete against Green, win his job back and prove every one wrong, but he won't. Why? Simple, no heart, no brain, no job.

Cpep has heart? OK, well that's the best thing you can say about him, perhaps.

What he doesn't have are knees. You really need those to play QB. Maybe that's why he hasn't succeeded.

OK, where to start....
 1. Cutting Lemon and keeping Culpepper. Lemon is healthy, Culpepper is not. It would cost 1.2million plus Culpeppers restructured salary (provided he would even be willing to restructure) to go this route. Cutting CP costs about 600K plus Lemon's salary. Cameron knows Lemons abilities as far as running Cameron's offense, Culpepper is at best an unknown, at worst Cameron has watched film on Culpepper and doesnt like what he sees.
 2. Culpepper was rushed back too soon...Culpepper was the one pushing to start last season. He's trying to re-write history now.
 3. If Culpepper is cleared to start...He was cleared to start last year....how did that work out for us?
 4. Trent Green can't lead the Phins to the playoffs.....Daunte has led his team to the playoffs once, so has Trent Green.
 5. Daunte only wanted to come to Miami.....well,so did Trent Green. Why wouldnt fans be just as impressed with Green's desire to be a Phin as Culpepper's?
 6. Do we believe Green can bring us anywhere....well, the same could be said for Culpepper. At least Green isnt just now getting off a stationary bike. With either QB there are risks. I personally think there is more risk with DC, but thats just me.
The bottom line here is that the guy that designed the Phin's offense seems to think that Green would be better at running it.
Thats good enough for me.

All these "Daunte has heart" threads make me wonder just exactly how many friends/relatives he has. Has he promised a free boat cruise (with entertainment) for anyone who starts a pro-Daunte thread?

Just to be fair... there is no guarantee Trent will be the Trent of 2004 or 2005 and not the Trent of 2006.

BUT... this is the NFL, not peewee league where everyone gets a fair shot.
Cam and RM have decided what they need to do to win, and they decided the Dolphins have a better chance to win with Trent instead of Daunte.

I have to put my faith that Cam and RM are doing what is best for the Dolphins as a team.
