Dolphins | Culpepper admits he's not back to his 2004 form
Sun, 3 Sep 2006 18:19:58 -0700
<A href="http://www.kffl.com/link/166">Alex Marvez, of the Sun-Sentinel, reports Miami Dolphins QB Daunte Culpepper (knee) admits he is not back to the form he was in during the 2004 season. NBC analyst Jerome Bettis said, "He's still limping around a little out there. I think it's going to be a problem with his durability in (late-season) games." Head coach Nick Saban said it was hard to put a percentage on Culpepper's recovery because he is new to the team. Saban added, "In each game, he made significant improvement in the way he moved around and the confidence he moved with. I'm sure the more he plays, the more he will continue to develop that confidence and be able to get back to what everybody would say is '100 percent.'"

he doesn't need to be a MVP, he just needs to get the job done. And he is well enough to do that.

I didnt notice a limp at all during any games. What I did notice is his first few drop backs of every game looked extremely odd. But after the first 2 or 3 he went back to looking normal

Duante Culpepper at 85% is much better than any QB that Miami fielded since Marino.

the 2004 Culpepper at 10% would likely be better than any QB Miami has field since Dan..

that report doesnt put a damper on my excitement..He's proven he is way ahead of schedule, and he's just fine.

i would love to see this limp that jerome is talking about. looks to me like daunte is walking perfectly fine(and running too).

:sidelol: :sidelol: :sidelol: Sad but oh so true...

Man I may get lambasted for this but Jay Fiedler was a goog QB for us. He was ay better than Feeley, Ray Lucus etc. He is in no way close to Culpepper but that dude put it on the line while he was here.

I Honestly must agree with you on that one.I always liked jay(i was happy seeing him on the s.i. cover..raiders game i think)My dad freakin hatin him,we used to argue bout him all the time.He wasnt a bad q.b. at all(i think he had a pretty good winning percentage 2) he just wasnt all that talented,he seemed to me 2 be a blue collar guy who overachieved...we had some HORRIBBLE q.b.s here after dan...but he wasnt one of them.I try to block out in my mind from the time danny boy left till saban was hired tho...

Would anyone expect him to be 100%? If he can make all the throws, and can stay healthy, that's all we need. I'm sure by 2007, he'll be feeling much better. :)

Did you forget what QB won our last six regular season games

The Jay Fiedler argument is an endless one.

We just need Daunte Culpepper to be efficient and stay healthy. I wasn't expecting and runnin and gunnin 2004 Culpepper. I knew that we wouldn't start to see that until the 07 season. That's ok. We have enough playmakers around him to where he doesn't have to be like that. If he can continue what he has shown in the preseason...a knack for getting the ball out, being elusive within the pocket, completing passes, and moving the chains, then that is all I care about. His arm also allows our WRs to be able to make plays for the ball and go get it. This is something we've missed for a long time.

Exactly. I don't expect him to be 100% until Oct or Nov. But he looked good with the preseason and should continue to improve week by week
