Mike Dempsey at 1010 XL Radio in Jacksonville reports that the Jaguars and Daunte Culpepper spoke Thursday night about possibly restructuring his contract.

At some point during the process, it appears that Culpepper decided Jacksonville would not be the best fit for him and decided not to restructure his deal. He is now demanding his release. A failure to negotiate will probably kill any deal to the Jaguars. One has to think Culpepper has another team lined up.

Keep rooting for the guy. He is a joke and a selfish SOB. Now is when he wants to play hard ball. I use to be a fan of the guy, but after all this I will never root for the guy again.

Let it go, let him go. If he's a jerk, he'll learn, if he's a player, or becomes one, he'll play.

We NEED to move on. Out the mercenaries, bring in the playmakers on O. GO DOLPHINS!!

I hope you plan on hating Green as well because he did the same with the Chiefs as Daunte is doing. He wouldn't accept a trade or restructure for anyone but us. If one's a jerk then so is the other.

I'd really love it if they would take him anyway.... he couldn't do a damn thing about it. Make it a conditional pick so if he stubbed his toe he'd be right back in Miami for more beatings.

That was my first post as I am new here. Been checking the place out for a while but finally decided to say 'Hi'. Will be a regular visitor from now on and will be good to get to know some of you guys.

I was worried something like would happen

Actually Green was different, he said he wanted to go to 1 team, so to work out a trade with ONLY Miami. Daunte is set on making Miami release him, with nothing back.

I say make the guy wait til the very end, where teams will not be be so ready to take him as a starter.

It is different than the Trent Green thing because DC is doing it to be stubborn. At least Green said, yes trade me, here is where I want to go so get the deal done. DC is saying, I am going to be stupid just because I am worthless and will probably never play in this league again so I might as well not play where I want!

Culpepper better be careful. As his own agent he is walking a thing line if he's even coming close to negotiating with other teams before he's released. Restructuring his contract for a trade is legal; talking to teams not involved in trade discussions is not!

If Duante wants to play hardball. I say we do also!!! Hold on to him until final roster cuts then cut him. He'll have no chance of playing for anyone this year for lack of knowledge of the playbook and teammates.:fire: Who would want him at that point anyway.

If Dante is still on our roster and this saga still going on in November, you'd have a stronger point. Miami within the past few days informed Dante he no longer fit into their plans, and they were attempting to trade him. He's been a whiny little female dog ever since. Green was more than patient for months before he began to run out of patience with the Chiefs.

So I agree with your point in theory, but one case went on for almost half a year while the other one is about a week old. That makes the difference for me.
