The Oracle
Culpepper called into the Big Papa Pump show last night. You Dolphin fans who live in Miami know who he is. Anyway, we thought it was just bull and we were razzing Big Papa about it but Daunte called 15 minutes late but he called and talked about 1/2 a hour.
I was able to have one question asked about who was at fault for him starting those first games at QB. That is not how I termed it, I asked "did he press Saban to start?". But the Host (Doug) reworded it into the discussion in another way. He did a really good job of asking questions without making it sound too much like he was asking questions, lol. Although he did ask some things like "did Randy Moss make your career" etc.
Anyway, as far as Culpepper starting the season, He said that the blame was his and his alone. He said he felt that he could play although he knew he was not 100% and he told Nick Saban that. So I had to respect that. To be honest he said all the right things so either he is his own agent or.....
(I wish I had a transcript of this)
Anyway, he only made $1.6 Million last year with the Raiders which surprised me a little. We had a debate Tuesday night over him and I agreed that IF he signed here for the NFL minimum (which we figured to be about $750,000 or so) then I'd be OK with it( I was just trying to get Ken and BMF to agree and move on, lol). And then we find out that Daunte was not making that much more. We wanted to ask him if he would sign for the minimum but he is his own agent so that would not be cool, lol.
He was asked about why would he want to come here? Wouldn't he like to go to a winning team? He said he has no hard feelings and he does live in Miami and he likes it here. He said he is sure that Parcells is going to build a winner. He said his knee is at 100% now but he got caught in Oakland between the number one draft pick and a QB they traded for in McNown. He said he was behind in the play book and could never catch up (HA, I wanted to shout! slow learner huh??)
He thinks he could offer us a good veteran QB. He said he liked coming into to UCF then a unknown school and putting it on the map. He said he has no problem going to a "up and coming" team. And since he IS his own agent I'm assuming that he is making it clear that he wants to be a Dolphin again.
Anyway I'm going to try to get some sleep, if you are a Culpepper fan go and listen to the 1-31-2008 show at about 30 minutes in.

I watched him play from his senior year of high school and I admit I really really like his big arm. He has what Madden calls a "Cannon" arm. Big Papa also asked him about having Chad Johnson here with him and they just laughed, lol.
It is interesting with Parcells here that players are wanting to come to Miami.
