Culpepper called into the Big Papa Pump show last night. You Dolphin fans who live in Miami know who he is. Anyway, we thought it was just bull and we were razzing Big Papa about it but Daunte called 15 minutes late but he called and talked about 1/2 a hour.

I was able to have one question asked about who was at fault for him starting those first games at QB. That is not how I termed it, I asked "did he press Saban to start?". But the Host (Doug) reworded it into the discussion in another way. He did a really good job of asking questions without making it sound too much like he was asking questions, lol. Although he did ask some things like "did Randy Moss make your career" etc.

Anyway, as far as Culpepper starting the season, He said that the blame was his and his alone. He said he felt that he could play although he knew he was not 100% and he told Nick Saban that. So I had to respect that. To be honest he said all the right things so either he is his own agent or.....

(I wish I had a transcript of this)

Anyway, he only made $1.6 Million last year with the Raiders which surprised me a little. We had a debate Tuesday night over him and I agreed that IF he signed here for the NFL minimum (which we figured to be about $750,000 or so) then I'd be OK with it( I was just trying to get Ken and BMF to agree and move on, lol). And then we find out that Daunte was not making that much more. We wanted to ask him if he would sign for the minimum but he is his own agent so that would not be cool, lol.

He was asked about why would he want to come here? Wouldn't he like to go to a winning team? He said he has no hard feelings and he does live in Miami and he likes it here. He said he is sure that Parcells is going to build a winner. He said his knee is at 100% now but he got caught in Oakland between the number one draft pick and a QB they traded for in McNown. He said he was behind in the play book and could never catch up (HA, I wanted to shout! slow learner huh??)

He thinks he could offer us a good veteran QB. He said he liked coming into to UCF then a unknown school and putting it on the map. He said he has no problem going to a "up and coming" team. And since he IS his own agent I'm assuming that he is making it clear that he wants to be a Dolphin again.

Anyway I'm going to try to get some sleep, if you are a Culpepper fan go and listen to the 1-31-2008 show at about 30 minutes in.

I watched him play from his senior year of high school and I admit I really really like his big arm. He has what Madden calls a "Cannon" arm. Big Papa also asked him about having Chad Johnson here with him and they just laughed, lol.

It is interesting with Parcells here that players are wanting to come to Miami.

i always liked the guy. thought it was cool he grew up a dolphins fan. to be honest, when you look at the FA qb market, re-signing him might not be a bad idea.

I think I'm alone on this, but I really wouldn't mind bringing Culpepper back as long as we get rid of Green's contract. Imagine him and Chad in Madden 09! Lol, but really he would be an upgrade over Green IMO and Parcells does like the big armed QBs. Green should retire because his actual life is more important that trying to play QB for a team that was 1-15. Nice post man and thanks for it all!

I think the way he was ousted out of Miami without a chance for the job was unfair. I don't care what people say. We would of probably won 2-3 more games with him here over Green.

People also critic the guy because of the way he acted, but they forget that he was made a fool and betrayed by us. He meant well, and I truly believe he wanted to be a Dolphin and win. I have to respect him for that.

I have no problem with Culpepper wanting to play for us, just not sure its a good idea and there are probably better options although Green and Lemon are not. I dont know give the guy a workout and let Bill make a decision but I'm more in favor of bringing in a guy like Grossman and let him compete with Beck and hopefully Beck shows he is an NFL QB.

People on this board hate Daunte for trying to play after sustaining a major injury then not taking a pay cut to make it easier to trade him one year after he takes a pay cut to help our team. I find the hatred silly.

Frist let me say "I do not hate D. Culpepper". As for bring him back, Please don't. Make a mistake once, shame on you, make the same mistake twice; shame on me. Parcells may like his arm but I'll bet my drawers he wouldn't be happy about the guy not moving well. See Bill's 11 QB rules.

Please no. When this guy lost his ability to move around, buy time and push the pocket, he was a DECENT quarterback. Now that he is playing on one knee, he is completely useless.

Im tired of Cpep.. he did nothing in our uniform..and the only good game he had in a raiders uniform was against us. But then many players had career games against us last year.

Sorry.. NO THANKS!.. If his name wasn't Culpepper... would we really be having this conversation. Like really.. Jay Feeley won more games.

Say no to Cpep! There is no reason to bring him back. We have Green here under contract and would be a good back up to Beck. Spend that money and draft a mid round QB as our third.

His best game was against Minnesota where he dropped 345 yards on their secondary. Just thought I'd help you out.

It doesn't matter to me weather it's Culpepper or Green as our Veteran Quarterback I don't want to see either of them starting next season. Beck needs to get his chance and nows the time. We're only going to get better from here and why not groom our quarterback of the future?

You make it seem like he is the scum of the earth. Please, as much as I love football it's only a game. As much as I hate Tom Brady I'm not going to get angry at him for doing what he does.
