Dolphins officials have informed Daunte Culpepper that he'll be kept on the roster throughout the offseason if he can't be traded.
They say they won't cut him. Culpepper says he'll "continue to work out at the facility with the team and prepare myself for training camp, wherever it may be." The Dolphins would save $1.5 million in cap space by dumping him.

Looks like they will not let him go until they have to......

or a trade

Looks like they may have learned something from Peterson.

Daunte may have to restructure his contract before another team decides to take a flyer on him, which I doubt he will do so he's forcing the Dolphins hand. He's sticking it to the organization as they are sticking it to him, IMO.

I'm not so sure about that. If some team is willing to take a chance on him before training camp starts, he can restructure and at least get a decent contract if he's willing. If Miami holds onto him and then cuts him right before the regular season, his options then wind up next to nothing and he'll probably have to settle for whatever someone can realistically pay him.

True Unless he Hurts that now cleared Knee again and then he sits on IR and gets paid.

IMO it would be best to release Culpepper sooner than later

For the Dolphins sake it probably is, but for Culpepper's sake he should take what he can get if someone is willing to trade for him and not try and force Miami's hand.

Is it really that big of a surprise to see DC want to go the "cut" route? By getting cut, he controls where he goes and the contract negotiations. If he's to be traded, teams would immediately demand a restructure of the deal. If he's cut he gets his guarenteed money from us and whatever the next team offers.

It's absolutely no surprise. But if Miami is sincere in stating they are intent on not releasing him, he'd probably be better off shopping himself a restructured contract.

cannot blame Pepp after the way we treated him. Also we have no leverage at all for him to take a pay cut since we told him we don't want him, so good luck trading him. His situation is so differant than green's because they were willing to keep him after a pay cut, now he will play for us at basically 5 million, Daunt on the other hand will be expensive capwise for a team to aquire and after being dealt his hand , he has little reason to help us get a draft pick.

I'm sure Daunte is a little fired up right now. After he calms down he will go into agent mode and do what he can to find a team that might be willing to burn a 6th or something.

CPep trade

NFL Network is stating that their may be a deal in the works to trade CPep for a late round pick, but they stated Fins wouldn't say who yet, so it wouldn't effect QB's situations on those teams.

I imagine they have to get through contract restructuring, physicals & those sorts of things.

Well time is only going to tell who's the more stubborn here between the two. They straight up told him that he's not in their plans anymore, so now it's all about how Daunte will go.

if he can win the job for the dolphins i wouldnt mind him starting i dont like culpepper and never have but if he gives us a good chance to win i say keep him i would do what ever it takes to win

Come on man it's not like he set the world on fire. He came here hurt and will leave here with a 1-3 record as a starter.

This is not about what we did to DC, It's about what DC didn't do for us!

True, but the longer Miami waits, the more it'll probably cost Duante since team's cap rooms will start getting tighter.
