"I've never gone through anything like this," Culpepper said.

Over the past two years, Culpepper has been through plenty. There's the knee injury in 2005 that still haunts him. There's the 2006 blow up he had with former coach Nick Saban when Saban had to bench Culpepper when his knee wasn't responding. There's also the 2005 "Love Boat" scandal, involving a Vikings team party, in which Culpepper's name was used like an infield drag. Ultimately, the charges never stuck.

What sticks in Culpepper's soul is his adoptive mother. Emma was 62 when she brought him home. He had been born at the women's prison she worked at in Ocala, Fla., and was the last of 11 children she raised.

He's such a good, hardworking guy. It angers me when people try and say he's a ******* because of what happened on that boat. I really hope he can get through this and lead us to great things, and that sucks about his mother.

I have a good fealing about DC he has had it hard lately hope he can come back i think he is the Qb for the Dolphins fits perfect
Run Then Run some more then take THAT deep pass in to the Endzone

I don't mean to be harsh, but she IS 92.... I was the same age Pep is now, and my mom was 38 years younger (54) than Pep'swhen she died... so it's not like Pep is going through something unexpected...

It doesn't matter whether death is expected or not. It is still a major shock when a loved parent dies.

Cole should be embarrassed by this maudlin story
It's not unexpected but no matter what it still hurts though, regardless if someone is 30/50/75/100. I think the point of the story was to cap off the numerous reports about how a 64 year old took in Culpepper. Last of 11 kids, when she was poor and he was born in a prison.

I hope Cpep plays for us again, but I have no doubt about his character and that he'll get another chance to play again.

Maudlin? It's the guy's mom. IMO you should be embarrassed at your callousness.
By the way, I believe you did mean to be harsh. Otherwise, why even say it?
