I can't believe that a mojority of these media-types are saying that Culpepper can't overcome one/half bad season???? (Don Banks etc) Come on...

He knows the offense #1, he has a go-to guy in Chambers, not to mention a go-to TE in MAC and a power-house RB (Brown) who can take the pressure off with the running game and catch like a receiver out of the backfield...

But then again I'd prefer to go into this season with the underdog/prove it mentality then being the favorites (who normally fail).

Also, us being questioned in FA too?? What about last year when everyone thought Saban was crazy to pick up Vonnie Holliday and Kevin Carter. Looks like that worked out ok to me. :goof:

I don't think the majority of writers say that..

Most of what I've read is very positive, and a lot of writers think we flat out robbed Minny.. Isn't it nice to be the robber instead of the victim for a change :D

I think Dante doesn't realizes how bad that little dance he does makes him look.

The media see Dante highlights (and lowlights) and that is all they see, so they react like they do. They see him do a stupid dance and draw their simplistic conclusions...

The whole love boat scandal is ridiculous. They didn't really do anything wrong, that stuff goes on, on boats all the time everywhere. I think they just didn't tip the boat crew well enough or there is way too many people up there that hate the Vikings. Or maybe the opposite and they were very disappointed in the year that they were having and decided to do something about it...

I don't care what any media guy says, if you acquire a 3 time Pro Bowl QB, a QB that had one of the best years of all time for a QB two seasons ago and who is still in his prime age-wise for a 2nd round pick you've done something good for your team. Since the Vikes don't have an up and coming QB (like Rivers in SD, Schaub in Atlanta, etc) to fall back on, it's even more curious. Surely, Brad Johnson is not a bad QB, but what does he really have left in the tank ?? The fact that this deal was made after the prime QB candidate was accounted for (Brees), and they've made no apparent attempt at any of the other alternatives (McCown, Brooks, Ramsey, Schaub, etc) makes you definitely wonder about the FO and Childress as well...

The media is very fickle. Daunte and Saban probably know to stay low key and just play. This is the best way to make the ones who talk yang shut up. If he does speak out against the media, they got a rise out of him, then they will keep doing it to get a story. Look at the quacks who dog us S.I.com, Terry Bradshaw, etc. They dont know jack anyway.
The majority do believe we are on the rise. We most certainly are.

Heres an idea: Save the S.I. and Terry Bradshaw articles to your CPU. At the end of the season when we get to the playoffs we get every phinheaven member to send it back to them with a big haha in the subject line and ask for those clowns to get fired.

Screw what they say and lets enjoy the ride! Go Phins!:dolphins:

Again, the Brees deal happened with the Saints after the Dolphins rejected him and pulled the trigger on the Culpepper deal.

Minnesota is going with Brad Johnson, and will probably draft a promising young QB to groom under him.

Amazing how a second round pick can make you a robber or a team that got robbed. Feeley we were the robbie, Culp we are the robbers. Amazing how 2 different regimes view that 2nd round pick.

What really got me was how DC thanks the fans in Minn and wished the team and the new staff luck and Brad Childerss (aka Lobot) pours 4 gallons of piss on him.

He actually compared DC to TO..... I dont look for Minn to have any superstar players bc its obvious the new coach has no idea how to handle them. I think hes a very thin skinned guy to go on the offensive on DC this early. Wait till he starts losing with that crappy team he has the guy will be pointing fingers at everybody.

You actually make a good point about Childress's shortcomings as the manager of a team.

Had Nick Saban taken over the Vikings this year, I have no doubt Daunte Culpepper would still be in Minnesota.

Yeah that... Completely!!

Anyway, I know in some circles we'll be the choice and others not but IMO Saban is methodical and makes all these choices with every aspect maticulously analyzed; including the Hodge, Campbell and Goodman pickups...

He knew he'd have to make some tough choices in regards to the Special Teams aces too such as Gilmore and Sammy Morris.

Wow! Great Point about the Superstar players. Childress has all but now admitted that he can't work well with players of the talent level of T.O. and now Culpepper. Granted, he's not the first one to have issues with T.O. but, other players around the league are going to be looking at this and say to themselves, why would I want to go there and play for him?

Exactly. Now when they get a shot at landing a franchise type player that player is going to look at how DC was handled. I mean Daunte got along with Randy Moss AND Chris Carter. None of his past coaches have had anything negative to say about him. SO I really just dismiss Childress as someone who is new to all the cameras pointing at him. Hopefully hell learn from it.

Thats why I love the way Saban handled Ricky Williams and Randy McMike. The players know he has their back and hes more worried about what happens on the football field than off it.
