Due to the "Ho Boat" scandal in Minnesota, and Daunte Culpepper's involvement in it there is a lot of speculation that that roster will get blown up at the end of the year. Where better for him to go than to the team most desperate for a QB that also employs his former offensive coordinator? The Dolphins.
Every reason not to go after him, only decreases how much we'd have to give up to get him. Especially if the Vikes wind up with the number 1 pick, which they could use on Leinart.
I'll say this, if the Vikings get the number 1 pick, and Linehan is still in Miami, Daunte Culpepper will be the starting QB for the Dolphins in 06'.
What do you guys think?

We have a much better shot at getting David Carr. The Texans will have the #1 pick in the draft. I don't think there is any way the Vikes will let go of Culpepper.

I think we'll get a good qb via free agency or trade in the next year or so. With Linehan's system (and our receiving corps when they decide to catch) qb's will be wanting to come here. (If we get the line straight, that is.)

I think this is so far out there that there is no reason to even speculate on it.
i agree. Tice may be fired though.

I don't want Shrek anywhere near our team. I have NEVER thought he was a good QB, just a big ogre romping around out there and chucking the ball to Carter/Moss.

Tice is by far the worst head coach in the league, he makes Wanny look like Vince Lombardi.

the coach for the saints is the worst in my mind. but Tice does look bad. i always thaught of him as an "interum (sp?)" head coach. someone to fill in till they can find a real coach.

I wouldn't go that far. He makes Wanny look like Jim Haslett.

man schleprock, you need to re-evaluate what you just said. Despite the year Culpepper is having now, he's still a great QB. He can throw the deep ball probably better than any QB in the NFL and yes im saying better than Peyton. Its easy for all those critics saying he's nothing without Moss. Of course the Vikes' offense wasnt going to be anywhere near what it was when Moss was in it, but what offense would?? Moss is the best WR in the NFL. As mentioned by others, I highly doubt Minn. would give Culpepper up. He's a franchise QB that has a great arm and is capable of scrambling. If the Fins could get ahold of him, they better do it in a heartbeat.

I originally came up with this idea but the timeline I specified had absolutely nothing to do with 2006 and everything to do with 2007 or 2008.

Just because Culpepper was on the Ho Boat, that doesn't mean he was one of the guys who were participating in illegal activities. And even if he was, this isn't about 20 guys who are the lowest of low dirty fiends in the NFL and need to be kicked out of the league. This is about a culture that allowed these players to arrange for the x-rated "Love Boat" to take voyage, and not even think there would be any consequences.

You're lying to yourself if you think there aren't 10 or 20 guys on the Dolphins roster right NOW that wouldn't also take a trip on the sticky love boat if they thought there were no consequences for their actions.

Obviously Culpepper is wallowing in an offense that has a beleaguered offensive line, no bonafied running threat, inexperienced and untalented WRs, and an offensive coordinator who just plain is not very good. They gave Culpepper a renegotiated contract this offseason, which makes it far less likely that he will be cut in 2006, yet far more likely that he could end up cut after June 1st, 2007.

I think we know somebody who had Culpepper on his fantasy football team last year. :rofl3:

Culpepper is a good player, but he's a much better fantasy player (up until this year) than he is a real life player. In real life, all those Culpepper fumbles that only cost your fantasy team a point each really hurt the Vikings.
