this is a great trade for the dolphins...this isnt the same trade with feeley...this guy is proven and will be fine...its his knee not his shoulder...i'm extremely happy about this trade and we will be a better team next year with daunte and he has a cannon..soo happy

Im...sceptic...but its big...lets hope for the better...

Lets hope the knee is OK and his struggles last year don't carry over. Go Phins!

Yeah i think Brees is a better option, but if he was too good to take Miami's offer F-em!!!!!!!! Culpepper u better get healthy quick cause we need ya!!

No, I am fairly certain any 2nd round pick we made would have been ready for training camp and not coming off a possibly career ending injury. This was an idiotic move. I'd rather pay too much money for Brees than too high a draft pick for Culpepper.

Man, at last someone who agrees with me. Who would we have drafted that could impact our team like this guy.

I would have preferred it to be next years draft or a conditional pick, however beggars can't be choosers. Its obvious Brees is only interested in the $$$$ and anyway I was never convinced he was any more than another Fiedler, albeit probably better, but certainly not an upper echelon QB.

Daunte being worth more than anyone we could have gotten with the 2nd round pick isn't the issue.

When you can sign another QB of equal value without giving up draft picks you should make it happen.

In addition all reports have Culpepper's recovery time as being much further behind Brees, with some questioning whether he can return next year at all.

Clearly we were much more comfortable with Brees' injury recovery since he was our first option. 2 million difference seems paltry to me when you consider what were giving up for Culpepper. Why Brees and the Phins could'nt find a middle ground is EXTREMELY dissapointing. I sincerely hope Culpepper dosen't make anything near what Drew will be paid or this will really look like a screw up.

I hope it all works out well. Culpepper can be a force if healthy but that was a totally devastated knee were talking about.

I have a bad taste from how this turned out.

id rather have someone's knee hurt than their shoulder...plus culpepper is a proven player 3 pro bowls....hes a top 5 qb

This is just an assumption but i have a feeling Brees told Saban that he wanted more money and he was going to sign with NO so Saban acted quickly on Culpepper before he lost out on both...

just a thought

People also question whether Brees will be able to play next year, the fact is both are injured, but one doesnt have a shoulder injury. Culpepper has accomplished more than Brees has in his career. This is a good move by the Fins, they now have a real QB who just a couple of years ago was regarded as a top 5 QB in the NFL. One poor season doesnt ruin a career

I agree 100%!! This is a great move for the Dolphins. Brees' shoulder worried me way more than Culpepper's knee. He really is a top 5 QB.

And in regards to our 2nd we gave up, we just need to trade down now! I thought we should trade down even before we gave up our 2nd. This draft is very deep. We just need to trade down and we will be golden.

I would have rather gave up a second rounder for Matt Schaub. I have wanted to trade for him since he was a rookie.

This is not a good trade for us....Let me clarify my statement.

1) We now have a proven PB QB...the best one we've had since Danny...
2) We have lost our 2nd round pick, which would have been a starting OL, starting CB or starting S....We have to now acquire that starting OL, CB or S via FA since we no longer have the pick...
3) We also have to have TWO starting QBs for this season. Culpepper won't be physically ready until October at best and even then he'll be playing back into shape. So that means that we have to re-sign a mediocre Gus or go with some other flunky (Maddox, etc) to hold the reigns until Pep is ready...
4) When he's back, we have to contend with his fumbling and INT problems.
5) We have to deal with his off-field issues and is known to be somewhat of a locker room cancer....

At any rate, I'm happy for the trade, but it won't help much this year...and will hurt us in years to come via the lack of the 2nd round pick...

I have never heard that before, can you elaborate... given enough time I'll be able to find my back here for yer answer... took me four tries to just get in and then several tries to get here.

Love the pick up and here's hoping we have our franchise QB for the next 5 to 7 years. :spot: :spot: :spot: :spot: :spot: :spot: :spot: :jumper: :jumper: :spot:
