Dolphins’ Culpepper may be shut down for rest of season

We hear that QB Daunte Culpepper could be sidelined for an extended period of time  perhaps even for the rest of the season  as he resumes rehabilitating his surgically repaired right knee. Word is he halted rehab once the regular season began, and the condition of his knee leveled off after showing steady progress throughout the preseason. Culpepper will likely sit until the team’s bye week (Week Eight) and then have his condition evaluated regarding a comeback later this season. Factoring into coach Nick Saban’s decision to shut Culpepper down is a desire to prevent his signalcaller, who was sacked 21 times in the first four games, from facing five rugged defenses  Chicago, Kansas City, Minnesota, Jacksonville and New England  in the six weeks following the bye. Despite Culpepper’s subpar play, Miami still considers him its quarterback of the future  after giving him $7 million in bonus money, along with a long-term contract that has him locked up through 2013  and wants him to be fully healthy in ’07.

I love pep, but i think this is the best thing to do..we arent going nowhere...

I would rather sit my franchise QB out until next year and hope he rehab his leg right
I kinda agree. If we are to guage if Culpepper is suppose to be our 'Franchise QB' then we must get him 100% healthy.

i agree. lets fix the oline and get younger players on defense thru free agency and the draft, and come back next year

I agree. CP has been horrible, and we need to see if JH can get the offense going. He made a lot of progress from his first game to his second, let's see what he can do the next two weeks. If he's still not getting points and W's, I wouldn't mind throwing Lemon in there for four weeks. Let's find a frickin QB that can move the offense and win some games.

GO PHINS~!

It's the best thing. Let DC sit out, rehab. Don't push. Next year is the year to come back. This season is done. Let JH perform and, maybe turn the pick around for at least one round better, hopefully. Let Cleo or Marcus get out there and show thier stuff. It's a lost season.

I don't believe the season is lost yet. The Dolphins could easily go on a 4 game win streak and be sitting at 5-5 after week 10. That wouldn't look so horrible. The offense can still get rolling and the defense is pretty solid. There's still hope.

seasons over. time for a roster cleansing and some younger players getting experience. i just want to see this team continue to grow

i guess it is best for him to recover fully for next season...plus, joey is playing relatively well...

Dude.

Stop.

I'm a big believer in never say die, but, we're done. It's foolish to risk a talent like DC with this team. I'm not saying don't play to win....Far from it. I simply think we can make chicken salad out of chicken poop to a degree with playing peple where they can help us by on field talent to keep or to trade. It's a strategic season now, not tactical.

I think we should just wait next season to start Culpepper so his knee fully heals. It is good to see Harrington play to see how he can help the offense.

The news is old and so are the questions relating to it.....if he wasn't ready...why was he played....if he wasn't healthy....why was he acquired in the first place? Why pay top dollar for a player who wasn't healthy or ready to play. Sounds more and more like the reason was out of desperation than brains....which normally gets you nothing in the end. All we have now is hope that Culpepper will rebound into the player he was in 2004. A lousy way to run a team.

Pep will probably never be a good starter for us. He is a chump
