Hi Guys,

New to the board, and by my avater and name you've deduced I'm a Vikes fan. No troll, no flame war participant, just a Vikes (and NFL) fan that would like to get the opinion of Phin fans on DC. I know it's early and he's only played just briefly, but what;s your opinion so far?

BTW, how much is he supposed to play tonight?

Skol!

welcome to the board....i must admit that the vikes r probably my 2nd team if i had to pick one..

as for ur question: I think most of us are ecstatic about DC. Its been so long since we had a real QB. No more Ray Lucas, Jay Fiedler, Gus Frerotte, Brian Griese, Sage Rosenfels, etc....
I know, personally, I've always loved DC, even when he was a viking. SO when we landed him, I was freakin out (in a good way).

As far as tonight, he'll probably play the entire first half!

Compared to how Brees looked the other night we definitely made the right choice.

Funny on the Charger game they didn't even put Feeley in for a single series I don't think. I didn't see him play and I watched the game...

How do you think Culpepper has looked overall?

Since 00', we've seen Damon Huard, Jay Fiedler, Ray Lucas, Brian Griese, A.J. Feeley, and Gus Frerotte at QB. I think it's pretty obvious how we feel to have Culpepper at them helm.

As for his playing, I need to see more of him before I make a clear cut decision on that. I think he's looked solid so far.

So far DC has been all we could ask for, but tonight will be his first extended playing time to really give us a taste of what it could be like this year. But we also must temper what we see tonight knowing that Carolina has one of the best D's in the league, so if he produces real well, that will really excite us.

dont forget sage has also started for us!!!!

Peps looked pretty good, yet they havent had him throw much yet in the preseason... when you consider how fast hes come back and that he's clearly starting Week 1 you gotta be impressed with the fact that he's even playing decent.

Not funny at all. They want to give Rivers as much experience as they can.

The 1st game he was 1 of two for like 3 yards. His 1st pass was a quick one because of a blitz. He was blitzed on both pass plays.

In the 2nd game he drove us for a score. I think the drive took like 8 minutes and he had a number of very nice intermediate passes. Thrown perfectly.

Brees was only throwing the ball for 2-5 yards at a time I think. They were all very short passes...

Personally, I think he looks ok considering coming back from the injury. The last pre season game he played a little more than a quarter. He took a few hits and led a scoring drive. I thought most of his completed passes (he was 8/9!) looked to be a little behind his receivers, making them hold up or reach back, but someone on here reviewed a replay and said that mostly he put it where he had to. Tonight will tell us more.

Obviously, the thought of a qb with elite potential thrills us.What's your opinion having watched him with and without Moss? Any accuracy to hype saying Moss made him look better than he is? Any other explanations for his sub-par season prior to the injury? You can probably give us more insight than we can give you at this point.

Pleased so far. He seems to be farther along in his rehab than most people would have thought. Probably this is our best chance to have a good, quality QB since Dan retired. Tonight, I believe he will play the entire first half and begin the second half before being replaced.

I'm happy that he's putting it where the receiver can catch the ball. Everything else is gravy as long as you're getting first downs and touchdowns.
