I can't believe you guys aren't discussing this, since it was a part of his interview and you guys have posted the interview....but that stood as big to me, if he can run, at QB he doesn't need to do much except get to the hand off positions, drop back, and escape sometimes...this is excellent news.

Q: Based on what?

A: "Based on how I'm feeling now and the progress that I've made in four months. A lot of people don't know, but I'm running. I can run now. I'm just cruising along. It's truly a blessing how my leg is healing."

Certianly sounds promising. I just hope he's not pushing that knee too early.

certainly is great news....but im going to be holding my breath when he takes his first real hit.

Escaping requires cutting which is where the problem would be

See...thats not really what i want from Pepper. I want him to be a pocket QB. I honestly hope he only scrambles once or twice in a game. Im thinking his injury may be a blessing for him, because it might show him how good he can truly be without having to depend on his legs.

That's what will scares me this first year, in year 2 I'll be less concerned.

I don't think it is a blessing. Daunte isn't a run-first QB, so he relied on running when it all broke down. Him not being able to run, takes away from the options that he has and forces him to sit in the pocket, eliminating that option.

He is not a pocket QB. This guy runs, and he is darn good at it. If he gets in too much trouble, he throws a quick little shovel pass, and he is amazing at those too! See what I'm talking about here... http://media.putfile.com/Daunte-Culpepper-Highlights

listen to yourself 'forcing him to stay in the pocket.' It's called a pocket because if the Qb stays in it, and the blocking is right, the play will work perfectly. I absolutly hate seeing guys like Mcnabb, Vick, and culpepper scramble out of the pocker at the first sign of pressure. Because they usually run head first into a human wall.

I see your point, I was thinking the same thing, but I would like him to be to run a little bit, because it keeps the chains moving..but I hope he uses it now as a very, very last result.

me too man. when he takes off and starts running, man im going to be calling for that QB slide.

I actually don't think he is a running QB. he can pass really well and has a great Long ball. Culpepper to Chambers! I can hear it already!

While he's in the pocket, I wont be a huge deal, it's when he gets out in space. The thing is when most guys try to make an open feild tackle on a guy his size, the shoot for the legs, as most DBs and some LB's will just bounce off otherwise.

The only problem I see with him in the pocket is if he gets skiddish when 300lb guys are crashing down around his feet. He may subconsciously try to protect it and get "happy feet"
