Please click the cumulative effect od QB hits in the first sentence to understand the follow up. This is a VG read from PFF on how sacks as well as hits affect a QB on those plays, as well as the plays that follow in a game in accuracy and picks. PFF does not include team sacks. So, Tannehill was sacked 51 times, and hit 42 times on 684 pass plays.

They also do not include hurries in this article. RT was hurried 131 times, and obviously did not play as well under that pressure as opposed to without it.

On a different note, we gave up 42 hits and 131 hurries (in addition to 51/58 sacks) on 684 pass plays, ranking #16. Houston, with Benton, gave up 27, 55, and 180 on 711 pass plays, and was ranked below us in overaLL pass protect, which makes perfect sense to me.

A little food for thought.

I'm personally amazed that Tannehill survived the entire season without suffering a major injury or developing PTSD... Dude is tough

I do think he was hurt more then the team let on in the second Buffalo game....

RT did take a lot of sacks but, the hits and hurries were average. This is my concern with what we have on the OL. The sacks may go down but the hits and hurries are likely to increase.

David Carr is a perfect example of hits turning a good QB into crap. Dude came into the NFL with all the tools, physical and mental. He then proceeded to get drilled for several years. Now he can't even be a backup for someone. It ain't because he can't read a D or throw the out. He's gun shy, and rightly so. Unless your QB is a masochist too many hits makes him a worse QB.
