Curios to know....(for all you Wanstetd believers or Supporters)

LOL @AC/DC Oh it couldnt have been people that think whining about Wanny w/o basis or saying something ridiculous is cool as long as its about Wanny. LMFAO! What will it take for the haters to realize Dave aint goin nowhere, so whining about it is useless. Wanny will hang himself if he cripples theteam. If we dont go far he should be gone. He should have been gone in 03 but the fact is he isnt. That does not mean he is wrong about everything he says or does. Because you hate him doesnt make him stupid and because you hate him aoint gonna make him gone. He will live or die by his own performance and he will do it hius way. I would rather have him stay true to his beliefs than waffle. Waffling shows indecision and no backbone. Say he doesnt have one? Sticking with Jay when he knows everyone wants AJ, thats backbone./

If some of you recall, I made a thread called "Wanstetd poll" located here ------>http://www.finheaven.com/boardvb2/showthread.php?t=48461 ... anyway, I noticed there is more of us Wanny haters now more than ever before and you can say the jury is out :judge: ...Most Fin Fans now have turned against Wanstetd ...
...and I was just curious to know what does it take for you that still support Wanstetd to finally change your mind about Wanny?? Another missed playoff season?? A worse season then last year?? A .500 season?? A losing season?? A Winless season?? :confused2

I'd also like to know, What is it that makes you still believe he is a good coach or makes you support him?? Do you still believe it's the players fault?? All of Front Office's fault (not just Wanny's)?? Do you just support him because you feel you have to (being he is our coach)?? :confused2

Any input from you fellow finfan Wanny supporters would be appreciated...I couldve made this thread a poll, but i really wanted to hear your input instead...

:gossip:

Well I was ready for Wanny to be let go at the end of last year. But wayne didn't release him. Wanny's the coach of my Team for another year and no amount of bitching is going to change it. So I am going to support him again this season until the season is over and then I'll decide in my own mind if he deserves another year not...

PS: I didn't vote in your poll because I didn't like the subject. That might be a problem with your poll...

I'll answer the question, but then I request that you answer mine.

I will believe that Wanny should be gone when one of these things has happened:

1. The players stop putting forth a good effort
2. The team begins dropping games that they should win (more than just occasionally)
3. A season of stability on the roster occurs and they don't improve.

IMO, there are teams in the league that are just more talented than the Fins. Losing to those teams should automatically be considered poor coaching.

I don't believe that Wanny will get the chance to prove he can take this team to the SB. Fans are way too impatient and Wayne will ultimately make a business decision rather than a football decision.

Here is what I expect from this season:

1. The team will struggle the first half of the season but should not suffer any blowouts.
2. The offensive line will get better as the season goes on
3. AJ Feeley will be looking very solid by mid-season.
4. They will be a team that nobody wants to play in the second half of the season.
5. I think they will finish between 8-8 and 10-6, with playoffs a possibility.

If this team does not show improvements as the season progresses and is tailing off at the end of the season, Wanny should be gone.

Now here is my question. What would it take for you to change your mind?

I selected undecided on your poll not because I am a Wanny supporter (I really was hoping he would get the axe after last season), but because he has been put in a unique position of coaching a team clouded with controversy, injuries, and untimely retirements, and having a chance to take them to the playoffs. Fact is, if the Phins do make the playoffs this year you can pretty much consider Wanny a lock to win Coach of the Year. And since many people on this site including myself still believe that Dolphins have an outside chance of making a run at the playoffs, its my opinion that we might as well reserve our judgement until the end of the season.

good fair post, i can see what you're saying...So basically, this year will determine where Wanny stands for you...

Wanny is so hated by some that he's in a no-win situation. If the Dolphins win, some say we win in spite of Wanny not because of Wanny. If we lose, it's Wanny's fault. It can't be both.
Oh yes it can. Why exactly can't it be both? Sometimes, that talent on D is enough to overcome dave's offensive-retarded system and pass-hampered QB. Sometimes, well zach and the boys, can't win every single game on their own. It's that simple. So yes, you can have it both ways

No, you can't have it both ways. I mean I don't think the guy should have been brought back this year. I don't think this team has a bright outlook over the next 15 games and he shouldn't be back next year.........but to blame him for loses and give him zero credit for the wins.........come on, that is just stupid in my opinion.

Anything short of winning the AFC East and Wannstedt is gone. Forget Super Bowl, AFC Title game.........if he wins the Division he stays. If not, he's gone.

If AJ Feeley is legit......Spielman stays. If not, he is probably gone too as at that point Miami will just re-do the entire organization from top to bottom starting with a new president and VP who will just bring in his crew.

I'm a Wanny supporter and proud of it. At the end of last season, I wanted him back as our coach. By the same token, I said if we don't make the playoffs, he must go.
So 5 years is the breaking point?? Come on, you've come this far believing, how 'bout six. Just let him finish his extension. Another year with no playoffs isn't the end of the world....

what's more important his team philosophy or his team's results? If we made it at least to the AFC Championship game you would still want him to get the axe if his ultra-conservative style got us there?

team result is more important. i get what you mean. if we get the the AFC Championship then Wanny can stay another yr & see how he does at the end of next year. I seriously wish Wanny was gone last yr. if we do get to the playoffs Wanny deserves to be Coach of the Year.

Wanny will defined by the choice he made at QB. Namely having Jay Fiedler here starting for four years. Having a consistent, good QB would have made Ricky Williams that much better and been enough to get us to, and win, a Super Bowl.

Wanny seems to have a mental block when it comes to choosing a QB. How he could ever trade for Rick Mirer, then keep Jay for so long? With a real GM, I think Dave could be a competent coach though. He is vanilla, but with the right players that can work.

I think it is time to see him depart though. Unless we get into the playoffs then Wanny needs to be gone and another approach taken.

so true!

Now here is my question. What would it take for you to change your mind?

Can the same be said about last year?? Were we not better than the Texans?? heck we win that game and we're looking at playoffs...We were Loaded with talent and we didnt even make the playoffs....

Or even this year, I honsetly dont think the Titans are better than we are...If anything we're just as good/bad...There was no reason we should've lost that game by that much of a margin....And i dont think too many people will argue that we had a pro-bowl team last year and shouldve beaten the Texans...

When you have a coach stick around for 4 yrs you should be improving or at least repeating your success...In Wanstetds case we've only seen decrease and we've only seen playoffs once and that was in Wanny's 1st yr...Tony Dungy stuck around with the Bucs for a while but he managed to advance or repeat his success and even after making it to consecutive Championship appearences he was let go...Here we are stuck with a coach who hasnt even let us see playoffs for 3 consecutive years...Fans can go on to say how he's had a winning record every year that he's been here, but if you dont win the big game, yet alone get close to it, then that dont mean a damn thang...

To answer your question...It would literally take Wanstetd a trip to the championship game this year for me to forgive what he's done to our franchise..If he does that this year i will be the first to come out and apologize and admit i was wrong...eat all the crow...I've put up & been patient with him for the past 4 years...Yet I'm willing to forgive him with ONE good year....

but for me to sit here & make excuses for him on how this team has been struck with bad luck would be foolish because he's had his share of chances and hasn't taken advantage of them...how many more chances do we give this guy??

right now he owes us,.. and owes us BIG...

enough is enough.

I wouldn't mind having him as a Defensive Coordinator but i dont want him as a Head Coach.
I mean, he actually hanged a lobster trap in the fins dressing room prior to playing the Pats two years ago as an attempt to motivate his football team.
A LOBSTER TRAP!!!

ya, & we're Dolphins!! LoL...

Dave next time you should try and hang a Tuna Fish net....

well im one of the rare ones to say i think coach dw is a good coach a players coach and i think he will benefit from just being a hc now.just like here in tampa gruden now brought in bruce allen from the raiders they are two good coaches not gm's and dw has averaged 10 wins a season as dolphins hc not bad.

Good reads.

The only way Wanny keeps his job is if Feeley makes him look good by his play. We win = Wanny stays. Quarterback shuffle = Wanny gone. This organization wants decisiveness, which it needs, like a dominating game plan and a stellar offensive and defensive play.:D

Hypothetically, what would all of you Wanny haters do if we somehow, miraculously get into the playoffs and make it past the 2nd round of the playoffs?
How long is your memory? (Dolphin fan community, not just you pinphan2003)? This guy, Wanny, shouldn't have even been around this year, heck last year was questionable also.

Think back two years ago. last week of the season The game was here in New England and you had the Pats on the ropes. All you had to do was put the game away, kill the clock and you would have been ACFE camps. just keep the clock moving. But Instead of running the ball Wanny started throwing it and wound up letting the Pats hang around, tie the game and beat you in overtime. Instead of winning the game, Being the division champs and getting a first round bye, you lost everything. And the Jets ended up as the victors.

It was PAINFULLY obvious then that Wanny had to go. He has no clue how to manage a game, let alone a team. Now you want him to manage a team in dissaray? all you have left are your prayers.

If the past is precurser for the future, You guys would have been better off getting Norv Turner when you had the chance. He may not win in Oakland, But a least he's trying to bring in the people he feels will put him in a better postion to win.

Now if Miami DOES somehow manage to finish with a playoff victory this year, and Wanny wins the "Coach of the year" award, I don't think you can rue out NOT firing him. You guys never should have been put in this postion in the first place. You want to keep him around, I say your just a gluton for punishment.
