I don't know who the other rookie CB's that were taken this past draft, but does anyone know the others and how they played this year compared to Sean Smith. I mention Smith and not Davis because we all know that Vonte is a keeper. I would like to know if we missed on a better CB prospect.

The Colts have two rookie CB's in Jerraud Powers and Jacob Lacey who have had a really good year. They have played against receivers Andre Johnson, Houshmanzadeh, Crabtree and Fitzgerald and kept them all out of the end zone.

A lot of that has to do with their safeties playing well too. Bathea is playing out of his mind well. He was truly deserving of a Pro Bowl bid.

TRUE!!! That's why we have to say goodbye to Gibril Wilson and bring in a real Safety.

Having the Colts pass rush and safeties certainly helped in that aspect. I only wish our corners had the same support.

Jairus Byrd from Buffalo. Has 9 INTs and pretty sure he's a Probowl selection.

Nvm. He's a FS

I'm not sure any other rookie corners can do what ours did given the situation. Our corners have had to play on an island ALL YEAR long, and I literally have never seen a safety help them.

I think if they had paired up Smith with a good safety, it wouldve made him look a lot better

You also have to look at the scheme. Indy plays the Tampa 2 so it's mostly zone coverage where Miami plays a lot of man. I would have loved to see Pags play more zone this year and not put those 2 young guys on an nisland all the time, but I think they both handled it very well.

I think Smith may have more upside than even Vonte. The guy has a total of two years of cornerback experience under his belt. 1 year in college and this season. The skys the limit for him.

He got picked on early in the year. Then they stopped throwing at him. And now he's making plays. As his confidence and experience grows we are starting to see great things.

I'd have to say Vontae has better upside, because he can cover and hits like a strong safety.

True.

I should have said Smith has the better chance at being a lock-down corner. But having a corner with a no fear attitude that Vonte displays will keep him around for a long time.

There's a reason why they call sean smith the LOCKSMITH. You barely see QB's throwing it his direction.
