Vandy QB off to top star bowl… Vanderbilt QB Jay Cutler, the SEC's leading passer this season and one of the fastest rising players in the 2006 draft class, is the first player named to the roster for this year’s Senior Bowl, scheduled for January 28th in Mobile.

i really hope that in their mock draft we don´t pick jimmy williams @ 9th, i rather have ngata who in this mock goes one spot later to the bills

Cutler is reminiscent of Eli Manning ... not saying that he IS Eli ... but the way he carried VANDY on his back ..

He clearly doesn't have the pedigree or the personalized coaching that Eli got ... but shows a lot of promise ...

His stock will rise .... how dramatically is dependent upon Evans and Quinn .... folks will consider him either the 2d > 4th QB in the draft - depending upon the above and team preferences.

2d to Quinn, he would be the most targeted QB on our scope ....

thats interesting, with a good game, he could be an early 1st round pick

Hope I get to see him play.

I think, with a Rivers-like performance at the Sr. Bowl, he could easliy go in the top 10 but I think it is going to take that kind of performance to raise his stock much more than it is enjoying right now. His combine will be the final and most important factor, IMO..

If he truly is a legitamite 1st rounder in GM's minds like a lot of people are saying I doubt he plays in it. Isn't it usually just people looking to move up in the draft who play in the Senior Bowl?

We could have a problem with Cutler's draft spot.I don't know that he's worth taking in the top 10 but he may not be there for us in the 2nd round.Do we take him with our top pick(which is probably too early for him)or do we take a chance and wait to see if he's there in the early 2nd?

Ozzy rules!!

We really need a QB right now. I don't understand why we would go for anything else in the first round. We should make a trade to obtain a top 5 pick so we can get a great QB IMO.

That's not necessarily true. Usually the guys that bow out of the Senior Bowl are like, top 10 draft pick prospects. Don't expect Matt Leinart or Vince Young to play in the Senior Bowl if Young declares. I doubt Reggie Bush, D'Brick, Ngata, Hawk, Rodrique Wright, Mario Williams, Jimmy Williams, or Greenway would accept invitations to the Senior Bowl either.

Jay Cutler isn't a top 10 pick YET. If he goes to the Senior Bowl and dominates it the way Phil Rivers did (which is to say, a more dominant QB performance than I can EVER remember at the Senior Bowl) then I think he could end up in that top 15 area.

In that case we should trade down

Yep not to far from me, he is a high school legend. Went undefeated and won the schools first state championship.

Hell, I hope he plays average... then we pick him up second round :-D

Nah, he is deffinitely a good QB with enough heart and dedication to make him a great QB IMO... I personally would not be disapointed one bit to see him come to the Phins as a 2nd round pick... which is a high possibility...

I really hope we do not pick this guy up. He makes poor decisions and that is the most important thing. In the Florida game in the 2nd overtime he threw the ball on the first play right to a back-up corner. when the game is on the line I don't want the QB making a HUGE mistake!
