Some people are down on Tannyhill however considering the money thrown Cutler who would you want? Tannyhill at yr 2 is the real deal soon to be a top ten qb in the nfl. We should sign him to a 8 million per long term contract now. We have the cap room and if a guy like Cutler who has the second best stats on his team gets this money maybe we should be thinking long term.

I don't know but the Denver Broncos getting themselves out of QB purgatory by trading him was one of the shrewdest and ballsyiest personnel moves I've seen this century.

cutler has done nothing and nether has ryan so im happy with ryan, and think ryan would do better with a new coach

sign a guy to an 8 year deal that had an 81 qb rating and is 15-17 as a starter? are you fuc*ing kidding me? why dont we wait and see if tannehill almighty can lead us to the playoffs before we give him a big deal. all i see is AVERAGE with this guy but hey if you think hes a soon to be franchise qb god bless you cause i absolutely dont see it...

Do we have to pick one? I'm not giving up on Tanny yet, but there no way on this planet I'm giving him a big deal like that now. I want to see him lead us to some big time wins, such as division games and games that put us in the playoffs before I'm labeling him franchise and throwing $8M per at him. Give him another year with a new coaching staff and then we'll see. If dumb and dumber still remain the HC and OC, I don't see Tanny making a huge stride.

ill give you the date when tannehill is a top 10 qb....here it is man : NEVER!

i really hope im wrong too jtc but answer me honestly, if you werent a dolphin fan and watched tannehill this year would you say hes on the verge of being a franchise qb?

I am a Dolphin fan and I'm not sold yet. We saw some slight improvement this year but nothing that leads me to believe he's about to emerge as one of the greats, especially considering the current tutelage, or lack thereof, he's receiving. He still throws too many interceptions, he's not very good at avoiding rushers even when he's staring right at them, he makes too many bad decisions, he can't hit someone deep when they're wide open... I'll stop there. I have no idea where his ceiling is so I'm going to reserve judgment. I'm in favor of him getting more time but if we don't see a considerable amount of improvement next year, I think we have to think about drafting a qb in 2015. I think it's possible he'd be helped tremendously by a change in coaching staffs but I don't see Ross, the great deliberater, making any wholesale changes this year. I don't think simply changing the OC is going to do it.

good observation and i agree with you. i also would add a serious lack of fire and intensity that most of the great qb's have. he just looks robotic and has a poker face on the sideline. id love to see some emotion from him but he just doesnt seem to have that type of personality.

Tannehill has shown me enough to give him a third year (not that we have a choice). I had him at 20+ td passes, around 14 ints, and 3600 yards, with a rating around 85. He came close to my expectations. Next year I expect over 25 td with a 2:1 td/int ratio, 4000 yards and a rating of 90+ with playoffs. If he can do that then yes he is our guy. However falling short, particularly on the playoff part and its time to pull the plug. Are these realistic and attainable goals? Based on what we've seen this year I'd say yes. However to pull the plug now is being short sighted and irrational. Again, like I mentioned earlier he's getting this third year regardless of how many Internet gurus piss and moan like spoiled little girls. So my advice is to sit back and let it play out or leave and spare the band width.

It does feel that way sometimes. But RT is inconsistent just as the team as a whole is inconsistent. I've never been a qb so I have no idea how difficult some of the things I listed are to correct. The bad decisions are the most alarming. I'm not sure how you coach that out of someone. My head tells me it only gets better with experience but maybe a good qb coach can up this kid's game.
