[h=2]Posted by Jay Lopez[/h] Being the photo negative of the Conference Champions is generally a bad way to build a winner, yet here we are. As we head into cuts, the Dolphins are short at LB and CB, two positions the Broncos have covered with class. Thankfully our head coach may still know a person or two in Denver: time to get on the phone?

Corner: The last corner on the Dolphins roster is currently likely to be Chimdi Chekwa. Meanwhile, the Broncos are likely to cut a highly talented player (Taurean Nixon) becuase he is too far down their depth chart. We might not want to wait and see if Nixon falls to us, either. The Dolphins now have an additional seventh round pick to play with- why not try to deal it for Lorenzo Doss? Doss is the Broncos CB 4 but would likely be our CB 2 or 3 until Culliver comes back in October. I'm sure the Broncos like Nixon enough to let Doss go if the price is right....

Linebacker: We need help. Currently, Mike Hull likely makes our roster as LB 6. The Broncos are likely to cut a player named Vontarrius Dora who could be a difference maker for us. Dora could supplant Paysinger as LB 4, and almost certainly would surpass the undrafted Zach Vigil.

There has got to be a running back we can het off waivers.

The Panthers are deep at LB. That is the team I target for LB Kline or Mayo are good enough to start on our team

Someone just wants to trade away picks, a la Dave Wannstedt, and really keep this franchise in the toilet.

Kline is good. Despite 6 1/2 sacks this preseason, there's talk M. Rush could be cut by San Fran. It'd be extremely idiotic on their part, but Rush can play 4-3 SLB, and his agility is outstanding.

Honestly Paysinger and Hewitt looked pretty good out there. Yea there could be better linebackers on cuts but these two look like they could hold the fort..

so why would they trade for a unknown to replace an unknown and then give them a 7th rounder when he may be cut anyway

Wouldn't you look at every team? I get the connection but don't be surprised if there are players on other teams that scouts have marked down

Not sure who, but I'm expecting a couple of roster spots to go to the final cuts from other teams. I'm not against trading late picks to ensure we get them, but lately our late picking has been OK. We took a flyer on Jakeem Grant, and I'm very glad we did. I would have to be sure we are getting an eventual starting player though ... even if it's 2 years down the road. We also need i.provement along the OL, TE and maybe even RB positions ... and we can't trade for all of them. Good list to consider thougj. Thanks OP.

Isn't the 7th we got from the Saints conditional anyway? So not really ours to trade yet. Suppose we could trade one we actually own though, but I don't see it going down that way. We will be scanning all the cuts made.

I'm not sure why there is so much hype for Paysinger. I seem to remember when he played last year he was a liability except on Special Teams.

Correct, so we may never see that 7 rounder.
