The Dolphins have been operating with 84 players, four more than the limit. That’s because unsigned draft picks don’t count toward the 80 allowed and may participate in rookie camps, OTAs and minicamps.
But with Friday’s signing of guard Donald Thomas, the Dolphins now have 80 players, including on-the-outs defensive end Jason Taylor, under contract.
That means the Dolphins will have to cut one player every time they sign one of their remaining four unsigned draft picks.

My four are Paul Soliai, Patrick Cobbs, Aaron Halterman, Kelvin Smith.

Wouldn't suprise me if a guy like Rob Ninkcovich, Courtney Bryan and Edmond Miles are released

While I agree with some of the names, the Dolphins will need 5 rbs in training camp. And Cobbs is one of the 5. Remember that Smith does have some history with the defensive coordinator. It would not shock me regarding several of the other names you mentioned. But Miles is a very intelligent player who has very good instincts. But most of you would put him on the list because he doesn't match Bill's profile of a lb. Maybe. Look at the number of players per position and that might give some clues.

courtney bryan
rob ninkovich
patrick cobbs
and maybe justin peele (i think that would be a bit of a surprise)

imo edmond miles will not get cut because he is a good special teams player and has some potential..not really the size sparano and parcells like but he will make the team imo..

wait a minute what about cutting mauia , hagan and martin ?

if those guys get cut it will be cause they got beat out in TC or preseason. slow down maverick, you're wild man out there.

Again with the 'Cut Hagan' stupidity. Exactly who do you replace this guy with? Jayson Foster, an UDFA? Give me a break. He is safe, just get over it.

I would say Soliai is a good one to throw out there. I doubt Smith is cut, and if he is, it will not be before Ed Miles. I think Halterman could be another. But dont think that some of the 'New Guys' Guys' are not possibilities. Some possibilities: Justin Wynn. Heerspink. Mulligan. (You are probably now saying, 'WHO?' Exactly my point.)

Paul Soliai should be moved to OT. It's the position he played his first few years in college and he was good at it.

This guy is a tremendous athlete for his size and if they just up and cut him without giving him a chance on the offensive line, it would be a shame as well as another stupid front office move.

Who are they going to waste or estrange next, Ronnie Brown.

These guys make Ran Cam look brilliant.

Despite his horrible rookie season and given his size and upside, you can't justify cutting Soliai right now with our lack of depth at nose tackle. After ditching Fifita, all we have is Ferguson, Soliai and two undrafted rookies. Soliai might not make the final cut, but he's certainly not going to be one of the first to go.

I think the most likely places to be trimmed are positions with guys that don't fit the scheme - guys like Roth, Miles, Kelvin Smith, etc. I know one person said Miles was great on special teams last year, and I do not disagree. But he's also vastly undersized for the 3-4 and as a result I don't think he's got a shot at the final roster. If I had to guess four guys to be cut first, they would be:

Aaron Halterman
Rob Ninkovich
Scorpio Babers
One of the undrafted receivers, maybe Wynn

sorry about being hard on hagan i am trying to get on the bandwagon but i have reservations about some our guys he is a player i dont have a handle on yet . david martin should be on this list for sure.
Here is how i will conduct myself on this situation, if Hagan turns out to be a really good wr i will sing his praises and I will even buy a jersey.
If I am right about this guy then i should get a pat on the back (kidding)

Nobody is arguing that he has played well. The fact is, however, that he is still young, and WRs take some time to develop. Moreover, we are thin at the position.

So while it is now considered trendy to be on the 'Cut Hagan' bandwagon, its pretty illogical when you consider he is still probably the third best (at worst) WR on this team.
