I know Moore and Patterson would add cap room. How much and what other cuts would save money?

Going by Over The Cap, there aren't really any other cuts that you'd make for reasons besides performance. Not unless we sign a number of big contracts and find ourselves scraping under the cap, which doesn't strike me as a good long term plan.

For instance, Fields would save a little over $2 million, if I recall correctly. Of course, then you have to replace him, most likely by using a late round draft pick, or signing a veteran who would take a good chunk of that money. Either move would likely downgrade the position.

Gibson could also be cut pretty easily, but his contract is pretty cheap and it wouldn't make sense unless his rehab is not going well.

Depending on what they do with the line but Nate Garner could be a cap casualty as he is owed $1.6m in base salary each of the next two years, with a $333k signing bonus split over the next two years and a $25k workout bonus each of the next two years. If he wins a starting job then his salary is fine, but as a backup not sure...

B Gibson has a $2.7m and a $3.2m base salary for the next two years with $1m signing bonus each of the next two years and a $35k workout bonus each of the next two years. It would cost a $2m cap hit but save the team about $4m.

D Thomas is also due $800k in salary with a remaining bonus of $200k, he's not worth $1m...I actually hope to see him cut.

Trunsnik is due a $855k salary with a $166k bonus and a $50k workout bonus...that seems to be a lot of an average at best backup linebacker.

Garner earned his money last year playing Center, LG and RT I think. That versatility in a pinch sure does come in handy.

I'd like to wait and see how Gibson is in his recovery before we make a move on him. He was our best YAC receiver last year before he went down. The rest need to be cut.

Yeah, that's why I was saying depending on what they do. Chances are Garner stays but that is a lot of coin for a career backup.

Gibson same way, doubt he goes anywhere but the option is there if they aren't happy with his recovery or they bring in a bigger receiver and slide Hartline inside.

They both have contracts that would help cap wise if they needed it.

I belive both Patterson and Moore would be full cuts to cap.

Patterson is around $5.5 and Moore is around $4.

Cutting both would basically add $9 to the cap.

but would miami need to sign another veteran QB, or run with Devlin?

From what I hear, Joe and company REALLY REALLY like Devlin.

Probably run with Devlin and sign a veteran at a minimum contract. I would say just restructure Moore for something around $1.5 guaranteed but he knows he can start for probably 10 other teams.

Patterson is another that I would bring back around $2 guaranteed and maybe have incentives back up to $5.5

I'd actually cut Moore if we needed the space uder the cap. IfTannehill goes down, Moore is not going to take us anyhere anyway so I'd be ok with laying a younger QB a that point and see what he can do.

Ozzy rules!!

Garner needs to be kept for versatility. Trusnik >>>> Spitler.

Moore seemed to be a hot comodity last season, why not trade him?

Easier said than done.

Teams know Moore wont sniff playing time barring a injury to Tannehill.

Teams know Moore's cap number is high for a back up QB.

Teams know Moore will most likely get cut.

Therefore, teams will likely just wait for Moore to get the chop and put in waiver claims. Although I could see a desperate team tossing out a conditional 5th or 6th. But most of if not all QB needy teams will take a rookie in the draft.

Texans, Raiders, Browns, Jaguars, Cardinals, Vikings, Bucs

Need to find a "old" team that is trying to win now and not looking to develop a rookie for 2-3 years while the rest of the roster ages. Texans, Cards, Vikings fit that mold but I would scratch Texans and Vikings because of high draft picks.

Maybe Cardinals look for a vet to bring in.

Toss in that their is plenty of "proven" vet QB's on the market (McCown, Vick, Freeman) all of which would take vet minimum deals to stay in the show.

With the high number of rookie qb's coming into the league this year there will be several qb's with starting experience on the market that could be had cheap.
