Cutting Phillip Wheeler?

players wouldn't get cut after the 2nd year if they played well. If they want the rest of their deal it's up to them, not the team

We aren't having trouble with our cap.

Completely false. The league trend is quite the opposite. And the Steelers have completely stopped making any kinds of deals being that they are in salary cap hell.

Also completely false. Its a pretty common to have low base salaries offset with high signing bonuses. And offsetting language? well we set the precedent on that. The whole league is now using that in their contracts.

I know you love to cry about the FO, but the bottom line is we are in great cap shape going forward, and will be in a good situation to sign RT to a big deal should he deserve it.

We are in great cap space because we drafted crappy players in the second - third rds rounds during Jeff's regime...

Why not trade Wheeler to the Broncos who just lost their starting LB Trevaythan.

NFL players need to be paid like everyone else. You do the job, you get paid. You dont do the job you get fired.

Not all employees are paid that way. Professional jobs are not like working at McDonalds.

I believe that all contracts should be honored in their entirety, like baseball. This would make GMs more hesitant to give large contracts to bums.

Round up a bunch of trash and ask your neighbor if you can store it in their house.

sorry spesh but oakland is where players go if they just want a paycheck...every pretty much washed up veteran ends up there for one final pay day...

by the way guys it sure looked to me like kevin burnett may be on the chop block in oakland when they cut down to 53...something to consider

i agree that miami needs to get away from these hamburger today pay you on tuesday contracts...if we front loaded some of these things we could get out of wheeler like contracts this year even...but we like the pay cheap year 1 balloon going forward route...that kind of stuff you pay for when u sign garbage in its prime or falling off veterans

luckily for us cap wise these havent blown up in our face yet...we can afford to eat assanine numbers on crappy players right now...i guess...better idea would be not to sign scheme driven production to mass money contracts but i digress

We are 2 years removed from having to sign the likes of Legedu Naanee because our cap was shot. Its already blown up in our face once, and as we are sitting here debating what it would take to get rid of some of our most recently signed players, it certainly seems like a second blast is coming right for us.

IMO why dont we go get a LB thats elete ? because we have Wheeler and his money is keeping us from doing that ? weather we ditch him or not , his cap is set so he gets paid if he stays or if he gose , and as of right now we have plenty of cap space to sign a Very good LB to say a 2 year deal , IMO Wheeler is gone as soon as his cap will let us do that and the money we still have can help us at the most weakest poss we have right now and by next year we can worrie about Tannehill exc . even if we could get a Vet LBer for just one year , we cant let Wheelers cap keep us from having a good football team this year ? and while the cap space sits there and dosent help NOW , i say we should see if a Vet becomes ava atleast for one year until we can let Wheeler go without it killing our cap , but either way if it comes down to finding a good vet and cutting wheeler , than so be it , i say do it if its only for a year , the cap will go up again next year and by then we can figure out what to do with wheeler .

cap space had little to do with that signing we carried over money that year

Wheelers roster space is not sure thing. Why would miami risk losing chris mccain or jelani jenkins in favor of wheeler?

Baltimore dodged a bullet by us outbidding them for Ellerbee. They were discussing 5 million a year when we jumped them by two million

These were NOT good contracts that Ireland and Aponte wrangled us into.

The only reason we have decent cap space available is that they keep pushing the money further down the road.

Reshad Jones contact is the worst of all of them. His money is guaranteed this year and next.
So he can totally suck this year just like last and we are still stuck with his guaranteed money next year.

Unreal.
