I know we all expect Parcells to really emphasize the D in this draft but as I looked at this team we really aren't too bad at DE - IF it stays the same and he does not cut or trade these guys.

At DE we have Holliday and Wright both big guys who could switch to DT if we wanted to change to a 4-3 for a play. We also have Moses who looks decent. Roth I am not sold on but maybe he was really hurt and couldn't move well. I think IF JT stays he will be at OLB officially. You would then have Porter and JT on the outside of these guys.

The problem is we have NO legit NT's. Solai for as big an ox as he is was pushed around and that is SAD! How weak must he be or is his technique that bad? I know Parcells loves DE's but we really we need NT's to take up space.

I don't see how a Chris Long fits with all the more important needs we have. Dorsey is too small for NT. It seems at #1 we go Ryan or JLong (don't see how you could take an OL guy #1 - too much money). We HAVE to be trading down!!

Sparano hasn't said what kind of D we will run. They ran a 3-4 in Dallas because that is what they had to work with. Almost all of the HC's from the BP coach tree runs 4-3. The NFL is turning into a spread league and that weak pathetic 3-4 won't cut it. If we run it we lose. The Pat and Bill and Jets will tear it up with the spread offense.

Well the 3-4 is actually designed to counter the passing game, not the running game.

It hasn't worked well for the Chargers has it . They supposedly have the best yet year after year Brady and Manning pick it apart and SD is sitting at home. The 3-4 won't work. Dallas got picked apart by NE and NY. And more teams will go with the spread because a LB can't cover a slot in any D. The way to play is 4 down who can rush the QB.

Disagree, San Diego gave QB's nightmares this season. Look at what they did to Manning in both meetings, and Brady was awful against them even though the Patriots won the game. Their secondary has certainly benefited.

The 3-4 actually fields faster players on the field, thus more affective against the pass. Now it really has nothing to do with the spread offense because most of the time, teams will bring out the nickel or dime package in those situations.

But its a well known fact that the 3-4 is a stop the pass first and the 4-3 is a stop the run first.

I personally think the 4-3 is the way to go because you HAVE to stop the run first. If not a team will pound it down your throat and control the time of possession. The Giants proved it still works IF you have dominant DE's that can get to the QB. You can't afford to blitz much in a 4-3 because you leave the middle of the field exposed. The 3-4 only works if you have a very dominant NT and some BIG DE's who are really athletic DT's.

Holliday and Wright fit this mold for us - sorry but we have personnel to fit the 3-4 at DE. IF we get a true NT then we have 3 decent guys to line up front. I know he will probably be franchised but put a Haynesworth, Holliday and Wright front 3 and that ain't bad to start. Porter and JT outside of them. Now go get a shut down DB and safety and you are getting there.
