D Thomas...adn the starting O-Line

Well after watching last nights game i have to say that Donald Thomas will be the starter week one. I really like the dedication Murphy has shown in making himself a better football player and he adds QUALITY depth.

BUT D Thomas is a man beast he gets a hold of a guy and its game over. He has an incredible drive and whenever he was in our line got huge surges on running plays and had great containment on passing plays.

With the line of Long, Smiley, Grove, Thomas, Carey...we will be able to run the ball like we want to. With the way Ronnie and Ricky are running and the way Cobbs is when he gets touches i think we can have a very good running attack this year.

So all doubts we answered last night D Thomas is you starting RG. And if he plays like this dare i say a pro bowl caliber guard.
 
I hope your right and that he stays healthy. I'm tired of watching the revolving door at guard like the last two years. Solidifying that position might go a long way to establishing our 'run at will' philosophy.

Comparing him to Larry Little is a bit over the top and a tad premature. But I can definitely see how one could make that analogy. I haven't seen anyone since the aforementioned Little to dominate at the Guard position the way he has. I've recorded the last two games and focused on his performance. He absolutely engulfs the guy (whomever that may be) lined up across from him. It seems like a mismatch every time. I don't know his combine numbers (one of our resident stat mavens help me out here) but he has to be one of the strongest guys, if not the strongest on the team. I think if he stays healthy he'll be the steal of the 08' draft. He's also (contingent on health) going to make Vernon Carey into an All-pro.
 
While I have said all along that Thomas will be the starting RG I have to say I still have some doubts that the OL will be able to run well all year. Just because we ran vs the kittens doesn't mean much. The giants put up huge numbers vs the panthers last week so just because we were able to run says as much about their problems as it does our OL. Time will tell, but I want to see it vs tampa and then in a regular season game before I say we have turned the corner. JMO
 
Donald Thomas looked really good last night. No doubt in my mind that he's the starter. I'm still unimpressed with Murphy though.
 
He is looking like a real find. I like how the guy he’s going up against seems to get smaller during the play. All those “Thomas” jerseys in the stands are going to have a “D” in front instead of a “Z’ real soon.
 
I heart DT. Really it's almost unhealthy how much I like watching that dude crush people. Our oline becomes so much more dangerous when he's in. I'm PRAYING that he stays healthy. There is a huge gaping chasm of talent between Thomas and Murphy. There's no question that if DT is healthy, he starts.

The better question is, why did we pick Murphy 2 rounds ahead of Thomas? And we traded up for Murphy on top of that..

We should have just drafted Thomas at our draft spot in the 4th, and left that weak over-aged Murphy in Utah with John Beck.
 
We definitely might have the best O-line in the league once it gels
