While I like his wide open approach, I can't get past the fact he continually pounded the middle of a defense that included Haynesworth and Wilfork with a 195lbs. RB. When Soliai was at FB would it had not been better to have the OL crash inside and let Paul fill the C gap. I just do not understand when you have two fat a!$*es on the line of scrimmage why you don't get them moving from side to side and wear them out. Especially when you have a back like Reggie.:err:

I like his style as well, the only call I remember disliking was when it was 4th and half a yard and he decided to throw it to Hartline when you have Marshall, who drove us down the field and was in beast mode on that drive

How freaking funny was that when big Paul lined up as FB.

And I agree.

he seemed to call good plays on every play minus of course the hartline fade on 4th and 1.
you cant just completely stop running the ball against anyone, recipe for disaster
and its hard to involve bush on pitches/toss sweeps when you dont have offensive lineman that can pull

No matter which way you look at it, the run game will have problems all year long. Releasing Williams and Brown was dumb as hell. It isn't even a hindsight argument as anyone with half a brain knew it was stupid to not retain one of those guys. I would have kept Williams and let go of Brown. Now we look completely stupid scraping the bottom of the NFL running back barrel.

In Daboll's defense though, on the first drive there were some good runs between the guard and center with Bush but I am not sure if Haynesworth was in there. However running there on the goal line especially with Bush is stupid. At least put Larry Johnson in there and let him try to punch it in. Kind of hard to do though when Pouncey, Incognito and Carey can't generate ANY kind of push.

i just wanted to give lj at least one shot (2nd down) rest bush and then set up the play action to bush on third...

over all i'm likin' the new look of the o.

it wasnt dumb to let either of them go. i liked both backs. but ricky does put the ball on the ground at times, isnt the same guy he was a couple years ago getting to the edge, and made some comments in the media in the offseason that just couldnt be overlooked by this staff. he was critical of sparanos treatment of players and his micromanagement. which is an issue. ricky was correct. and sparano isnt the greatest coach, but their jobs are on the line. and they cant have that in the locker room.

i dont blame them one bit. rickys not young and even if he has something left. big picture doesnt justify bringing him back. ronnie brown has a horrible injury history and wasnt as good as ricky last year. hes tight with williams, and very likely he had the same thoughts about the staff. just many reasons not to bring him back as well. i loved brown here. i think before he got injured with cam he was being used properly and on his way to one of the best years for a back in the NFL. he never realized his potential, and although solid at times, injuries derailed his career.

LJ is just as good an option as these guys. and there are alot of backs out there. the issue i have is they should have brought LJ in a long time ago. they went to camp with 3 backs, and to me thats just unacceptable

When Dabol was running us inside, he was trying to get the Pats to stack the box a bit, as they did for a few initial series. Dabol was trying to inturn create some isolation plays to the #1 and #2 WRs. There was a spell where the pats were daring us to run it up the middle too, when they backed off to prevent us the deep routes that we were hitting in the early quarters.

yeah they were stacking the box a bit to start the game and playing base defense. after that first drive they pretty much went with nickel and dime coverage. put a db on bush. our offense did go a bit stagnate in the middle of the game. they made adjustments. we didnt

I hear what you are saying, but when you are on the goalline you do not send the ball straight up the gut against arguably the best 4-3 DT and one of the best 3-4 NT in football. On top of that you use a 195lbs. RB to bust the middle. That is insanity.

Yup, it's smart to let go of your entire veteran stable of running backs for a guy in Bush that never could carry the rock as a featured back and for a rookie. Then you sign a guy that hasn't played for what 3 years or at least was relevant for that time. Sure, makes a ton of sense to me. Retaining Ricky would have been the smart move. The guy still has some in the tank. It is his job to tote the rock, not worry about what the thinks about the coach.

yeah u have to, or at least threaten to run it inside. u have to make those guys defend that. maybe they dont have faith in pounceys ability to move them out of there. but uve got to be able to run the ball inside the tackles inside the one yard line. u just simply have to do it

Agrees. I wish they would have tried a toss or stretch play at the goal line. Then again, I wonder if that one near fumble, by Henne on the early stretch play attempt to Bush, made Dabol a bit hesitant on calling that.

not worry about what he thinks about the coach? thats a huge problem! guys have to buy in if the teams going to win. im not a sparano supporter. i dont think hes a good coach. he did make a good move bringing in nolan and then daboll. he has made some good moves, but he has some serious flaws as a head coach.

but i support them 100% in this one, and i like ricky. just cant bring him back - no way in hell. and who cares if they were here before? its an entirely new offense anyways. they werent exactly super productive last year either. the dont get yards on their own, and dont break any tackles. if u arent going to break tackles anyways might as well add bushes athleticism instead.

u dont forget how to run the ball either. so LJ signing is fine. they just needed to do it earlier, and perhaps bring in one more guy. they just left the running back position under-manned headed to camp, and even one injury was going to leave us too thin - which it did. reggie bush only missed 2 plays the entire game. thats ridiculous. they have to have a between the tackles runner they are willing to use.

Ricky was cool and all. Likable. And he did a lot for the team. Though he seemed to carry a tinge of "rogue" in him- IMO a bit of "I'm too good for football" and "I'm just here to pay the bills, I really just want to be a hollistic healer, independent-thinking / separatist, pseudo-elitest hippy."
