Daboll and play calling

i am so happy with the play calling except for like 2 or 3 play calls. The fouth and one foot at the goal line was bad. The 3rd and 3 which we ran some pitch to bush out of the shotgun was also a bad call. And on the first drive i would of liked to see us put in LJ and pound it once or twice to try and score. We scored anyways but we did it the hard way. Besides that i think he called a great game. I would like to see what he does when a game is close or we are up by a few points late in the game. Does he go ultra conservative and run it three times and put it or does he go for the knock out blow and win the game big. Will be alot of fun to watch and it is the best Offense i have seen here since good old number 13 was back there

Ricky was cool and all. Likable. And he did a lot for the team. Though he seemed to carry a tinge of "rogue" in him- IMO a bit of "I'm too good for football" and "I'm just here to pay the bills, I really just want to be a hollistic healer, independent-thinking / separatist, pseudo-elitest hippy."

well there just comes a time when that stuff finally isnt trumped by talent. i think they have no problem bringing him back if he didnt play his cards and make the comments he made. ricky thought sparano was on his way out. he was just being honest. but as a staff, why bother bringing him back with those things? it was just time. ricky needed a change of scenery just like sparano

agree

on that 4th and goal I was hoping for a naked bootleg....the way Henne was running I believe he'd have gotten in....maybe a bootleg and pass to the TE could work too....you run some of those and the middle will soften up too....just my 2 cents

Ozzy rules!!

remember he gives henne leeway to change play and who ball goes to.

I only have one playcall prob and that was running ball in at 1 yd line at least twice. reggie bush dive off tackle.

No matter which way you look at it, the run game will have problems all year long. Releasing Williams and Brown was dumb as hell. It isn't even a hindsight argument as anyone with half a brain knew it was stupid to not retain one of those guys. I would have kept Williams and let go of Brown. Now we look completely stupid scraping the bottom of the NFL running back barrel.

In Daboll's defense though, on the first drive there were some good runs between the guard and center with Bush but I am not sure if Haynesworth was in there. However running there on the goal line especially with Bush is stupid. At least put Larry Johnson in there and let him try to punch it in. Kind of hard to do though when Pouncey, Incognito and Carey can't generate ANY kind of push.

well, bush was only RB in this game minus Hilliard who ran twice so not sure we can judge anything yet. not sure they had big plans for thomas vs. pats anyways.

i take a wait and see approach. and once again, no way ricky was coming back here. burnt bridges. end of story. ricky doesnt want to be here. broken record.

yeah they were stacking the box a bit to start the game and playing base defense. after that first drive they pretty much went with nickel and dime coverage. put a db on bush. our offense did go a bit stagnate in the middle of the game. they made adjustments. we didnt

its pretty hard when vs. hurry up. but well taken.

but maybe our offense should go hurry up?

thats exactly the play i was thinking when they lined up.

When a play works it's brilliant, when it doesn't it's a bad call. Every team has both, even the Patriots had a few bad calls. Hartline catches that ball for a TD and suddenly Daboll is a genius and Henne is a mini Marino.

As far as the running game goes, keep in mind that Thomas was out. When he finally hits the field all of the should have kept Ricky talk could be a dead issue. Giving the coaching staff the benefit of doubt, I'm pretty sure they are aware that even a pass first team can't ignore the run.

Bush is a playmaker and opposing teams always have to account for him. That takes pressure off the other guys to make plays. The random run play, even if it's not very productive keeps the defense honest and their is always the possibility that Bush squeaks through for a big play. It's that threat that makes life easy for Marshall, Bess, Hartline and Fasano. All of those guys had a great game and made big plays.

On the bright side, Daboll didn't try to force anything that wasn't working and the offense was moving the ball. Imagine if it were Henning calling the plays, it would have been a 3 fistpump blowout.

i think our offense was fine. tempo good everything was fine. we arent ready to execute like new england on offense and thats fine. even ochocinco isnt up to speed to what they do. henne and marshall arent 100% on same page yet. still mistakes out on the field. u speed it up and they get magnified. these guys have to see what each other is seeing first and foremost. u can see how its second nature for new england. we arent there yet. and its ok.

i am curious why we didnt see LJ the other night, and i think lex should have gotten another carry or 2 in short yardage (or LJ). would like to know why LJ didnt see the field tho. is he not up to speed with the offense? is he a little out of football shape? or is sparano just being a dummy like usual and just scared to trust his players - like he was with cameron wake 2 years ago - even tho every time he saw the field he was our most productive pass rusher?

Why carry 2 fullbacks...

if you are going to pass with 6 inches to gain.

Is Daboll a NE CHAOS AGENT?!:ponder::rolleyes:
