Yup. He is going to struggle in pass pro. But he MOVES BODIES in the running game. I really hope the coaches give him a shot next week.
 
I'd like to see Turner take on Gerald McCoy before anointing him.

Well, we won't get the opportunity, because they left Dallas Thomas in there to get blown up on three straight series against him.
 
Yes Gerald Mccoy raped the hell out of him, but jesus, it looked like Thomas barely put in any effort
 
You know it's had when the dominance of a DT vs our RG is described as 'rape'. Ouch.
 
We're in real good cap shape. Honestly? See what the 49ers want for Alex Boone. If he's stubborn with that holdout and they're going to be stubborn back, see if they'll toss him our way for a 5th or 6th. Dallas Thomas is awful.

I really don't want to be that guy who advocates desperation trades or tying up all the cap on the OL, but damn.
 
Gerald McCoy is a great defensive tackle and its not a surprise that he beat up Thomas. But McCoy isnt the only great defensive line player we go up against this season.

Wilfork, Kyle Williams, Dontari Poe, Lamarr Houston, Suh, the Jets, Ngata, etc, etc, etc. We have a gauntlet of great defensive players to work through. This is going to be a rough year.
 
We are in deep **** week 1 if we go in with Satele and Thomas against Wilfork.

the inability to give opponent teams players credit, you know they get paid too....and it was against McCoy a top 3 DT in the league....unreal
 
Last preseason Thomas was getting KILLED by second and third string DL. How in the world could he possibly have improved enough in an offseason to line up against starting DLinemen? Answer is he hasn't. Next question- is Philbin smart enough to see the problem? I have my doubts.
 
Yeah hes going against a great player but the Dolphins division is full of great d linemen hes going to be going against. Bills, Pats, and Jets all have tough defensive lines. He better figure it out quick. No reason for him to get abused in less than a second twice in 3 or 4 plays.

I think we seriously need to look at the trade for Boone. Right guard is a glaring weakness for us. We need to get it shored up and if you can get an established veteran then do it!!!
