Dallas Thomas is horrible

Even great players on the line are only going to make a few big plays every game. Most of the time, it is a draw...

YOU DON'T EXPECT THE GUY TO GET BEAT EVERY ****ING PLAY...

Last preseason Thomas was getting KILLED by second and third string DL. How in the world could he possibly have improved enough in an offseason to line up against starting DLinemen? Answer is he hasn't. Next question- is Philbin smart enough to see the problem? I have my doubts.

I'm hoping that Hickey doesn't even let him think about it. I hope he does like he did with Satele and just go out and get someone...

Well he sucked long after they pulled McCoy! So there goes that excuse!

Favorable reports about Dallas Thomas as one of the biggest improvers but he was killed tonight. The big question is whether you stick with him or pass it over to Billy Turner or one of the more experienced guys or buy the toughest, most experienced veteran available. I hope I'm wrong, but Dallas doesn't look physically strong enough.

I think those reports were all before "pads went on"...

Interior OL might end up being the undoing of the team this year. Easily, we could have drafted Trai Turner and Gabe Jackson for OG and probably still gotten Billy Turner in the 3rd rd without trading up and put him where he belongs, LT. LG/C/RG is a hot mess right now.

And Dallas Thomas said after the game that he "felt comfortable out there". Yeah well I guess if getting manhandled every play makes you comfortable then so be it.

Did he honestly say he 'felt comfortable' after getting completely destroyed and then committing a couple of penalties?

Wow.

I did not look at Thomas much before the draft last year but when I did get around to looking I liked him. Thought he was a solid positional blocker with some upside. Even liked him as a potential LT (he shut out JaDaveon Clowney in college).

Whoopsie!

In his defense Gerald McCoy is one of the best defensive tackles in the game and according to PFF one of the best football players in the game regardless of position. But still.

Whoopsie!

Anyhow, this week will tell us a lot about what the coaches are thinking. In my opinion Billy Turner is not a valid option at this stage. He offers a lot more athletic upside but a lot of the same problems as Thomas in terms of getting beat quickly and decisively. Tons of upside with Turner but we'll reap most of the benefits next year, imo. With the LG position relatively solidified I think we'll see Shelley Smith move over and start getting RG snaps this week. In a pinch we always know that Nate Garner can start there.

Watching him locking onto McCoy and getting bull rushed 6 yards right back into RT gave me nightmares of Jon Martin.
When he wasn't thrown around like a doll, he was holding.
Ireland really knew how to pick em..
Just cut the guy now. I have seen enough bad oline over the past 6 years to fill a lifetime.

So all last week i read praise about Thomas, about how he is setting in, how he is entrenching himself as the starter.... after 1 preseason game where he was up against one of the best DT's in the game if not THE best DT he should be cut?

He is still the best option at RG and you wont see turner as a starter until next year at LG.

No he isn't and he will not be starting come game 1. Wait and see.

If he is our best option at RG, we are going into the season with another Clabo situation on our hands.

Don't think he should be cut but I definitely think Turner should at least get a look with the starters next week.
