I finally watched the game late tonight. Last week Dallas Thomas was churning his feet twice as fast as last preseason. Obviously somebody told him to focus on the footwork. Against McCoy there was no time for that and he was humiliated. Or should I say he rightfully should feel humiliated. Thomas still might consider it an improvement. After all, he's an NFL starter.
This is what I worried about with both Thomas and Turner, and emphasized it not long after the draft, that when they are beaten it is immediate and decisive. Turnstile Twins. Both play narrow and not particularly strong with shaky technique. At least Turner can move and looks like an athlete on most plays. Too bad he was never allowed an opportunity opposite McCoy. It might have been an avalanche but I have the feeling Turner would have displayed more fight than Thomas.
Jonathan Martin as a rookie didn't look too bad against lesser linemen but against top guys the athletic limitations were glaring. Very similar with Dallas Thomas at this stage. It looks like we drafted a borderline practice squad caliber talent in the 3rd round.
