Dallas Thomas is horrible

The problem is that we have guys on the roster who can at least bring something of value, and they are being buried on the depth chart. Shelley Smith and Billy Turner are GOOD run blockers. They aren't good pass blockers, but the honest truth is that NEITHER ARE COLLEDGE AND THOMAS.

Think about it. When Pouncey gets back, we could have three good run blockers in our interior OL. Or we could have one good run blocker and two guys who aren't good at anything.

I really am surprised that they haven't given Shelley a chance. I know he had issues at center, but that doesn't mean he might not be good at guard...

He is not good at guard but neither is Thomas.

Somebody watch the game again, key in on Thomas and then key in on Billy Turner when he goes in at RG.

if Billy Turner doesn't get a chance to start vs the Cowboys, I'm officially jumping on the "Welcome, Harbaugh" bandwagon.

wouldn't u rather have Harbaugh regardless

Yes but there's no guarantee he winds up with Miami. Some of the moves we've made kinda strongly hint to me that Ross is still looking in that direction, but there's never a guarantee.

I think there is enough talent on the roster that with a couple of tweaks we are a playoff team. I'd rather see us go that route than fall on our faces and hope we get a certain coach.

Harbaugh inst going anywhere. He is 100% married to the 49ers. They have had some public squabbles over contracts and stuff because he's a feisty guy, but the talk of him leaving San Fran is crazy imo.

He's married to Southern California...last 3 stops in reverse, 49ers, Stanford and University of San Diego

The problem is the FO has brought in a whole bunch of left side players by asking themselves "Can this guy play RG?" But they should be asking themselves "Can this guy play LG in a pinch if we need him to?". This is a front office fail so I'm not going to put this 100% on Philbin. He can only do so much when Ireland and Hickey haven't given him a RG. Now if he doesn't recognize that and doesn't plug Turner or Smith in that hole as a starter at some point this preseason then that will be on Philbin.

I'll say it now: If we start the season with Dallas Thomase at the starting RG spot and he plays there for a good chunk of the season then this will be Philbin's last season coaching in Miami. Our record at the end of the season will not be good enough for Philbin to keep his job.

When Pouncey is back do you think Satele might be in the mix for the guard position?

I just think having Philbin as our head coach is like having Matt Moore at qb, there is limited upside on where they can take us.

Carolina Panthers rookie guard Trai Turner acts, plays like a veteran

Finding the Fits: Dependable OG Gabe Jackson a steal for Raiders

Both could have been easily had, Guard problem solved, if we traded down in the first and took that extra 3rd- imo we still could have gotten James a few slots down in the 1st round and Billy Turner without trading up in the 3rd round. That would have been a haul and solved a lot of problems.

Forgive me for once again saying I told you so. When I saw that guy play in the 2013 pre-season and saw him get thrown aside by Defensive Linemen, i knew there was no hope for him. A few people on here made excuses for him citing his then recent shoulder surgery. When he was named first-team in OTAs, I was not convinced for one second that he had improved. what I see, is a guy who simply cannot play. Period. So now the Dolphins have wasted so much time time with him in the starting lineup that they are now playing catch up with better players like Shelly Smith and Billy Turner. I also think David Arkin is a much better player than Thomas. I urge you all to watch #66 the next two weeks.

I agree with you on Trai Turner. Gabe Jackson on the other hand is not a good fit for Zone Blocking Scheme

Harbaugh will be coaching either Oakland or Miami next year.

Dallas Thomas has pretty good movement skills for a ZBS, how's that working out? Gabe Jackson can run block like a mofo and he can pass block effectively, I'm more concerned with that than him being a perfect fit in a ZBS. I would have rather drafted those two guy and had Billy Turner at OT, where he belongs imo. At this point I can't even fathom another NFL team having a worse interor OL than ours right now.

gabe jackson would be miscast in this scheme...not the lateral athlete we need...he's playing in a power scheme in oakland for a reason

good prospect though...i'm just done with misfits

Is BIlly Turner's issue just techniques and leverage at this point....I know he can be nasty on the field and has good strength...
