Miami Dolphins offensive lineman Dallas Thomas had not said much since last week's troubling game against the Buffalo Bills during which he allowed 2.5 sacks in his first start at right tackle. Indeed, he had not been around the locker room during the open media portion until Thursday afternoon when he finally faced the folks carrying notepads and tape recorders.

What did Thomas think of his outing last week -- one which led coaches to warn him to clean things up or risk getting benched Sunday?
“I don’t look at it as doing good or bad," he said. "I’m just looking at trying to improve from game to game, get better at my craft."
That's a good idea because Thomas gave up sacks in a game where the Dolphins got rid of the football quickly to avoid getting quarterback Ryan Tannehill hit. It helped the Dolphins win the game, but Tannehill still took a beating. And aside from struggling in the passing game, Thomas was not exactly lights out in the run game, either. So what specifically does he need to improve on?
"You want to improve on everything," he said. "It’s not just one thing to focus in on, you want to improve your game. Run game, pass game, everything.”

It was nice of Pouncey to come out and try and support his teammate but let's hope the coaches "really" did put him on notice.

a whole different level of lateral athletes on the edge this week in von miller and demarcus ware...dallas thomas will have no chance vs von miller in space

Absolutely none. There needed to be more talk of the Denver defense vs the Dolphins offense.

Fox or Garner should be at RT. At least they have experience and might have some "tricks' to get by.

I think Miami's offense could be disastrous this week. The line is such an issue.

Throw a TE next to Dallas Thomas every play to help him block. Play 6 O-linemen. Do anything. Dallas Thomas is awful can't leave him alone on an island.

Doesn't say much for Jason Fox if he can't beat this guy out.

yea, this is a really bad matchup for the fins. only chance is if we make huge plays on special teams - i'm talking big returns, even a td, and sturgis has to get rid of the deer in the headlights look and nail some big fgs - and also create some turnovers somehow. if we get into a back and forth game with denver's offense, there is no way we will be able to keep up.

we will have our mistakes and protection breakdowns for sure. we need to be lifted up by the other areas of our team.

even if we pound the run, we all know what manning can do to counter that - see 2009 Colts / Dolphins Monday night game where we held the ball for 42 minutes or something ridiculous like that and still lost because of giving up big plays.

I've never been a fan of this kind of comment from a player. You can't wake up in the morning and work on everything. You can only wake up in the morning and work on one thing. Maybe two things. Which means you have to first identify your weaknesses and then prioritize them.

Right... but it's also a soundbite. Players are obligated to talk to the media. Are you prepped every morning that you walk into work to break down to reporters exactly how you plan on approaching your tasks of the day?

Uh, no. But I'm also not an athlete who expects those questions. Even still, if someone did put a microphone in my face and asked me what I was working on that day, I wouldn't say "everything." I would have at least some kind of plan for the day.

What I'd like is just some sign on Dallas' part that he knows what his specific issues are. There's a saying -- I don't know who said it -- but the basic sentiment is that "a friend to the whole world is a friend to no one." A similar principle applies here. Working on everything is working on nothing.

I've been pretty supportive of this staff. I think they've found a lot of good talent, and done a heck of a job developing it, and projecting it.

But dallas reminds me so much of the Martin situation. Everyone could see he sucked. But the staff seemed to be dead set on starting him.

Seems like the same situation w dallas, he keeps getting pushed into a starting role and not once has he shown he deserves it.

He will be pulled before the game is over

Thats not true for one thing, it was the staff that asked for the Albert trade, the staff said they didn't think Martin was a capable left tackle. The staff wanted Brandon Albert to be the left tackle. And two: the guy behind Snake Martin on the depth chart was none other than Dallas Thomas...
