...don't want to be a Debbie Downer (and I don't want to overlook his good plays either), but that's twice in a row now where he has just about cost us the game on the second to last play. First time - ok, he'll know better next time. Second time - it's like, what's the matter with you, man?

There are some things that certain players don't do well - maybe the 2 minute offence is one of those for Damian.

EDIT: Sorry, it wasn't two weeks in a row - it was the AZ game where he kept fighting for yards and didn't go down until there was :01 left on the clock.

Not that Im a big fan BUT, I think the only way Franks makes that kick is the way it happened... If Rex iced him he would've missed, if he had time to think about it, he would've missed... IMO

Did you see that field goal go through the uprights?? We needed every inch he got. You do realize it was 3rd down, right??

Going out of bounds a yard sooner could've cost us the game.

What do think the extra time would have gotten us? It was 4th down.

I've heard a lot of intereviews on QAM from guys like Gase, Rizzi and Christensen.

They absolutely love the kid. We've seen him like 3 years now I believe. . . he has made a few boneheaded mistakes, but he's been a key piece in this run we are on.

Sometimes you just have a will to do more and you aren't thinking of game management. Young guy still, luckily it has all worked out for us this year. He's definitely taken to coaching under this staff tho.

I don't see how not going out of bounds on third down with 40 seconds remaining almost cost them the game? They had plenty of time to get the kicking unit on the field for the field goal. If he goes out of bounds there are two possible result: A - Miami elects to go for it on 4th down instead of the long field goal. B -Franks has a little more time to think about the kick. Both of those options have potential pros and cons.

Also how much would it have changed your confidence in Franks if Williams went out of bounds... Miami went for it on 4th down and gained and five or seven yards. Franks would have still have needed to to make a kick longer than his norm.

IMHO, Williams has played very well for us. But, he simply MUST learn to be aware of the clock and situation. He consistently turns upfield for 1 or two yards when we need him to get out of bounds.

In his defense though, he competes every play. He is the guy running every play to get up and block for whomever has the ball. He's the guy who competently does whatever the play requires of him regardless of whether he gets the ball or not. He is the guy who will dive into a pile to fight for a fumble or chase down a DB after an INT. He's giving maximum effort. Now if we could only drill some situational awareness into the kid, he'd be another Gase success story.

Not going out of bounds was absolutely a mistake, to think it wasn't is just silly. You can say all you want about how things turned out, because of how they turned out. Getting out of bounds would have given us some time to decide whether to go for it or kick the FG and not have to rush. Like I said, it turned out great for us, but that was because of dumb luck. If he misses the kick, or we get a delay of game; there would be no silly talk about it being good that he didn't have time to think about it.

I like Williams, but similar to Grant being taken off of punt returns late in games....I think Williams should be too!

I think he's definitely improved this year

As it turned out they had 30 second to get the field goal unit on the field. If he goes out they would have had the 40 second play clock. Either way they still had 9 seconds on the clock when they actually kicked the ball. Sure he could have or should have gone out of bounds, but it wasn't going to make that kick any easier.

To me he was instructed to not go out of bounds, every football player no matter how dumb he is knows that in that situation you go out of bounds.

That happened right in front of me, I was screaming my head off at the kid to get out, but hell, it all worked out, so I'm not gonna dwell on it

It looked to me like he was trying to get out of bounds at one point but he was pulled back by a defender.

Williams made a boneheaded play IMO...no situational awareness...and the Dolphins lucked out that it worked the way it did. I'll take it, but I highly doubt it was drawn up that way. He made a similar mistake earlier this year in a game that I can't recall right now (not last week's game).

Bad play, but Williams is a good utility back, and he's a high-effort player, so I can't get too down on him. I'm sure the coaches talked with him about situational awareness after the play.

Yeah, sorry it was the AZ game, not last week.

I can't fault his effort, but his awareness is just not good, and as well as it did turn out for us both times, it could EASILY have ended in tears both times. Smh but oh well.
