Campbell really reminds me of Cowher. They were both former NFL players, but not superstars, they were lunch pail guys. They both worked closely with HOF coaches during career (Cowher with Schottenheimer, Campbell with Parcells), they got their coaching careers started with those mentor coaches.

Both were very young when getting HC gig, both hard-nosed tough guys. Perhaps the biggest comparison is that they are both big-time motivational guys who delegated well with coaching staff. Cowher was never a master x&os guy, his main draw as a HC was his ability to motivate and get the most of his guys

I agree with your comparison of the 2. Cowher is who I immediately thought of when I saw Campbell's first presser after being named the interim HC.

I can see what you are saying, I see a similar intensity. we'll see how it works out long term but is Marty in the hall? and Cowher worker many years as a coach under Marty(7 seasons) and was a defensive coordinator for 3 seasons. Campbell played under BP for 3 years but never coached under him.

Not sure if Marty is in yet, but he will be eventually

I can definitely see why folks would make the comparison. Campbell comes off as a little more genuine to me.

I am not so sure, how many coaches are in the Hall w/o at least a SB app? or pre SB era w/o a title game app? he was an outstanding coach though.

cowher strikes me as more the public figure an owner and team would want as a hc...more the corporate type

i think that stuff matters personally to nfl owners...

campbell could use losing some of that "lockerroom" type talk in public settings...i love that it shows how genuine he is and he's got no filter but these owners money comes from business ventures and corporate type settings and they like things handled that way in public...

Good points. I'm guessing he'll tie up those loose ends as he goes a little, but as a fan, it's great to see a coach let it hang out on the podium a little.

He doesn't remind me of Cowher.

I was a big Steeler fan too. I watched all those games while he was their head coach.

Cowher was a high energy guy on the sideline.

Campbell seemed nice and controlled.

He reminds me of the former TE, coach we just played against much more than Cowher.

Cowher was a special teams coach at one point. Those guys have to be nuts.

I was thinking the same thing. Lets just hope that it is consistent.
