per pftDolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill has ceased being a running threat. Coach Dan Campbell wants to change that.
Tannehill has just 17 carries for 44 yards this season, a huge step backward from last year, when he had 311 yards on 56 carries. Campbell says the Dolphins haven’t taken Tannehill’s runs out of the playbook, and they’re hoping to get Tanehill more active with his legs.
“That’s certainly still in our package,” Campbell said. “Would we like to run him more? Yeah.”
Although the Dolphins beat the Eagles last week, Campbell was disappointed in the running game, and he thinks Tannehill can make it better.
“We somewhat hit a brick wall last week,” Campbell said. “We averaged 3.8 per carry, and that’s not good enough. We need to be averaging a minimum of four.”
Campbell won’t be telling Tannehill to run the ball in the Oklahoma drill any time soon, but he will spend plenty of practice time on quarterback runs. It’s something Tannehill is capable of doing it, and Campbell wants to see him do it more.
i agree. we just cant make it our offense like it became at the end of the year last year. we have an athletic qb and he never runs.
