Ok so based on your own source, my point stands. It is not as simple as that. Only 9 other teams were more successful at touchbacks then Miami last year.
Only 2 teams were over 30%
So let's look at it a differe way. I could be wrong on this specific # so if I am please correct me.
The end one is what? 10 yards correct? So if it was as easy as kicking it out of the end zone, that means that a kicker would have had to kick it 5 yards deep in the end zone consitantly last year.
What is the rule of thumb for a Returner? How far deep in th end zone are thy typically told to not return and kneel? About 5 yards deep.
So, with that said, It would be a decent argument to claim that those Touchback %'s are from kicking out of the end zone as well as kicking it deep into the end zone.
When only 2 teams were able to get 30% r more Touchbacks, It's not as easy as kicking it out of the end zone.
It's easy t make these claims as arm chair QB'S and because he is a Kicker it' supposed to be just that simple.
But when only 9 kickers did better, it's not fair to make those claims.
Plus, with your own source, it showed that on average, less then 20% of kicks were kicked far enough for Touchbacks.
Did this rule suddenly enable these kickers to increase how far they can kick a ball? Absolutely not. If you kick it 70 yards off a tee, you won't suddenly kick it 75 yards off the tee because of this rule.
The only part that is gonna truly impact the return game is the 5 yard run up for blockers
