Dan Marino card

It’s not
I still have my rookie Marino card in pristine condition and was offered $750 for it
it may be worth a little bit less but not by much

I have the card in 2 inch thick glass casing its never been removed from. Last I looked at a pricing mag (many moons ago), value was $50.

If someone offered you $750, you should've taken it. 80's/90's cards were massively overproduced hence the crash in the market. They are far from rare & pristine means diddly squat.

If either of your cards are really in 'pristine' condition, you should send them in to get graded. This is what the card is worth in PSA 10 condition:

Holy **** dude
My card has been protected from the start
I didn’t know it reached that level
Until you get it graded and it actually comes back as a PSA 10, it's worth about $50 raw. Just because it's been protected from the start doesn't mean it's a PSA 10, as cards don't always come out of the packs perfect. A PSA 9 (which is still a high grade for this card) is worth ~$400, give or take. A PSA 8 gets down to ~$100. To give you an idea of the scarcity of a PSA 10, see the population report below:

There are only 410 copies that have been graded as a PSA 10 out of a total of 27,071 copies graded (~1.5%). Wish you the best of luck if you do decide to grade it but it's going to be very difficult to get a 10.

I sold my Marino RC along with my Cal Ripken & Ken Dryden and Guy Lafleur RCs to help buy a wedding ring for my wife
All I can say is that both of you made out like bandits based off of how the value of cards has dropped over the years. If you cashed out you did very well.

Yes, exactly. The PSA 5 at $40 is a correct price. But a PSA 10 goes for thousands and I've seen PSA 9s in the $400-$500 range. Its all about the condition.

I was looking through some of my old cards and was pissed to see my old self somehow didn't realize I had a Tim Duncan tops rookie card that is worth up to 400 bucks lol It now has a chip in the edge, so weird since I used to be really good about putting the potential high values in protectors. I guess I just didn't care about nba cards. My best card is an autographed reggie white Eagles one that I believe is around 300-400 but obviously due to the sad circumstances has doubled in price since his death.

Bro, is this for real? Because I'm certain my card is a high as grade you can find & as much as it would crush my soul to get rid of it, I could really use the cash.

Please, if you know, how do I get it graded and are you sure those cards are not some rare error prints?

I have over 350 Marino cards ...including a rookie card, an autographed 85 card, and several other specialty cards that I am passing down to my son/grandson.

Getting a 10 is harder than you think, especially with older cards. It may look perfect to you but graders use lenses to look at the surface and the centering needs to be at a certain ratio, not to mention the corners need to be perfect.

That being said, PSA is the most reputable grading company. If you’re in South Florida, SGC is local in Boca Raton, and probably the second best.

That’s really what it’s all about. I have a pretty big collection including over 300 Tua rookies that I’ll be giving my son. He might be able to pay 1/10th of one semester of college with it, LOL (god I hope he goes to trade school).

The 84 Topps set is notorious for off centering and even staggered framing. You could open a brand new, untouched pack of 84 Topps and pull a Marino rookie that has never seen the light of day and it may only grade out as a PSA 6. A PSA 6 sold yesterday on EBAY for $35. For a point of comparison, you can buy an unopened 84 Topps pack on EBAY for about $50 with no assurance that it has not been tampered with or not dropped, etc. And you have about a 1 in 30 chance of it containing a Marino.... Elway is also in the set and comparable to the Marino card (a little less desirable/valuable) plus Dickerson and a few other lesser names like Duper, Craig, Long, etc.

In short, any raw (ungraded) Marino rookie out there is far likely to be a PSA 3 or 4 ($10-$15) than a 9, much less a 10. Oh, and it costs about $20 to get graded, if not more depending on the tier pricing which is an entirely other conversation.
