But hey it was Marino's fault they never won a super bowl

I would like somebody to list our first and second round picks from 84-99, then compare them to Buffalo's, or some other team.

Most people here are too young to remember, but great teams are built by great personnel people, and miami had the best in Bobby Bethard. He built the great dolphins teams of the 70's, and Shula and the fans were lucky we had him. He left in the early 80's and then built the Redskins who in turn won a few championships.

Our drafting was so bad through most of the 80's there really is not to many words i could use to accurately describe it, but i think even dave wannstedt looked at our personnel moves and muttered, boy do those guys suck...

I loved Marino, but he certainly was not without faults, but he was the most explosive passer the game has probably ever seen.

Imo, Marino helped Shula keep his job, if it wasn't for Marino, Shula would have been gone in 86-88 era when the Dolphins had literally NOBODY, seriously in that era a Marino-less Dolphin tean would have been a 4 wins a year team.

There was once a stretch of, i believe 11 games the Dolphins lost that Marino did not start.

Who said it was marinos fault we never won a superbowl?

I will say the same to u how many qb's could overcome the worst defense in the league and among the worst rushing attacks in the league and have a winning record. their defense was last in points and yards so u cant balme Orton for the team giving up too many points. Im sure sanchez's record has nothing to do with his team having the 3rd best rushing attack in the NFL and the 3rd ranked defense in the nfl. he carried the jest oon his back with hios 75 qb rating and 54 percent accuracy. he was basically Trent Dilfer last year. Also to u if stats are inflated because u play bad why are Orton's stats so much better than Henne's.

Reasons - how much time ya got...?

1. BM - couldn't catch a cold with his disassocaitive disorder and plethora of bad excuses - he played bad football - and compared to this season last season he looked out of shape -
2. Multitude of button hook routes - were hopped by the D
3. Zero slants
4. Zero from the TE
5. Zero creativity
6. Zero audibles
7. Play action on third and long like 10-13 yards
8. Defenses "calling out our plays"
9. WC?????????????????????
10. Are you really that clueless?

Dont agree with this article at all. Miami did not have a great running game when marino got there and there are many other fallacies.

The article is pathetic. Take this quote "In Marino's record-setting 1984 season, the Dolphins had the No. 1 scoring offense in football and the No. 6 scoring defense (18.6 points per game). The 1990 Dolphins, meanwhile, boasted the league's No. 4 scoring defense, surrendering just 15.1 points per game."

The 84 season ended with Miami giving up 38points, 300+yds passing, 200yds rushing, and nearly 40min time of possession to the 49ers. That "No. 6 scoring defense" was pretty worthless. The 90 season ended giving up 44points to Buffalo in the playoffs (the 34 points Miami scored were not enough). Again, that wonderful No. 4 scoring defense was worthless.

In Marino's 10 playoff losses, Miami gave up an average of 34points/game and 210yds/game rushing. No QB is going to win under those circumstances.

As you can see from the stats, by 98-99 JJ had built a solid defense (although it broke down completely in the final game against Jacksonville), but it was too late for Marino, he was well past prime. If he had that defense (or the defense of the beginning of his career) in his prime he would have won multiple Super Bowls, even without an effective running game.

I remember the 49er stared MOST of their drives on, or near our side of the 50. I also remember watching Montana run down field while our linebackers had their backs turned to him....AWFUL!!
