But hey it was Marino's fault they never won a super bowl
I would like somebody to list our first and second round picks from 84-99, then compare them to Buffalo's, or some other team.
Most people here are too young to remember, but great teams are built by great personnel people, and miami had the best in Bobby Bethard. He built the great dolphins teams of the 70's, and Shula and the fans were lucky we had him. He left in the early 80's and then built the Redskins who in turn won a few championships.
Our drafting was so bad through most of the 80's there really is not to many words i could use to accurately describe it, but i think even dave wannstedt looked at our personnel moves and muttered, boy do those guys suck...
I loved Marino, but he certainly was not without faults, but he was the most explosive passer the game has probably ever seen.
Imo, Marino helped Shula keep his job, if it wasn't for Marino, Shula would have been gone in 86-88 era when the Dolphins had literally NOBODY, seriously in that era a Marino-less Dolphin tean would have been a 4 wins a year team.
There was once a stretch of, i believe 11 games the Dolphins lost that Marino did not start.
