Besides doing more work with personnel (including evaluating tape of college players), Dolphins special adviser Dan Marino apparently is doing more coaching.

Rookie Brandon Doughty said last week that Marino is “in every meeting” with the team’s quarterbacks, joining assistants Clyde Christensen and Bo Hardegree and occasionally, Adam Gase. Marino also has been hands-on with Doughty.

“He’s been telling me I need to align to my throws, not fall off my throws,” Doughty said. “I’m going to work on that the next five weeks, I guarantee you. I get to talk to him every single day. It’s pretty cool.

Looks like he is taking a bit more of an active role.

So I guess Tannehill is in a separate room for the poster that suggested Marino gave up on Tannehill

Funny, I was just talking about this in another thread. His platform is all over the place!

If Marino wants to help all our QBs, down to the guy that steps in when the Jugs machine breaks down, that can only be a good thing as far as I'm concerned.

CBS ain't paying the bills anymore so he's gotta find something to do. He doesn't strike me as the kinda guy to lounge in his sweatpants watching Netflix all day.

I don't think Marino has much to contribute to be honest.

He was a special, gifted athlete.

Elway was a vastly different QB than Marino was.

Agree, unfortunately. However, I do think his fiery competitiveness could benefit our QBs...not sure that can really be taught or rubbed off at this point.

However, Dan Marino is a Dolphin legend. It is interesting that he was involved in the formal scheduled interviews of all 60+ players at the Draft Combine in Indianapolis which was a serious time commitment. I'm unsure what Dan's best strengths are, but it seems like Mr Ross and Tannenbaum are including him in matters outside the QB development and shaking hands public relations.

If Marino could get Tannehill to be a little more assertive and that involved more risk and possibly more interceptions would you be ok with that?

It does seem like Marino is working every side he can to learn more about running a franchise. Not sure if he has the mind for it, but at least he is going through the process to understated what the different parts do. Could eventually jockey for the GM position in the future.

I don't think anybody is talking about making him GM or President of the Dolphins. He is just helping our QBs. Can't go wrong with that.

If my QB is more high risk he will always have more INTs. I am OK with that if he is successful overall. Marino was a high risk deep passer. For his time the best there was. With the rules in favor of the QBs these days and a gun slinger with quick release like Marino - yeah I would be OK with that.

If our QBs would have that intuition of Marino, that quick release I'd be ok with that - very OK.

That was my thinking as well. I think Ross saw the success Elway had in Denver and wants to duplicate it in the future or at the very least, as a backup plan. At draft time, Marino was in the personnel room with Grier. He is basically an apprentice for the organization but if you have a chance to have a HOF QB in your QB room, you would be a fool not to take advantage. Just like all the other former players that were welcomed this off season. Anyone who thinks Marino has nothing to offer as a QB (who played for Don Shula) is ..........

If we see Tannehill show half the leadership fire and passion that Marino did it will be some bright days ahead for Phinfans.

If his HEART is in it, I have no doubt Marino has what it takes to be a quality front office guy. At this point it's still a big IF IMO.
