Dan Marino was held hostage in Ace Ventura: Pet Detective for not holding the laces out, and he's frequently held hostage by many NFL media types and fans for never winning a Super Bowl.

Marino, whose name sits by most NFL passing records, took the Dolphins to the Super Bowl in his second season, but he lost to Joe Montana and the San Francisco 49ers.
After the defeat, Marino assumed he would be back and have another crack at it. Unfortunately, the only crack Marino ever saw was that of his center. It wasn't for a lack of trying: Marino led Miami to the playoffs in 10 of his 17 seasons, and the Dolphins had eight playoff wins, but Marino never brought them back to the Championship round.

Yeah it sucks, but I think most of us knew he was the best non Superbowl QB ever. I still think he's the best overall, if he had half the offense Manning, or John Elway had he would have won at least one Superbowl.

Poor Marino.
I don't blame them for stickin him up top. By the way, did sanders ever get to the SB. I might be getting my names confused but isn't that the running back for detroit who averaged 5.1 ypc his entire carreer.

No, if you go to the article he's in it.

I thought that was a given. But to me he's the best Qb ever and if I was starting a team and I had a cjoice between every player in history I'd pick Dan Marino.

I have the misfortune of being a Dolphins and Pacers fan. Poor Dan and Reggie Miller his NBA equivalent. Surprise he wasn't on there. He did more for his teams in the playoffs than Charles or Karl. Oh well :(

Sorry coulden't resist. A real shame for Marino, possibly the best passer ever to play the game.

Ted Williams should have been one of the top 2; I'd have trouble picking between him & Dan for #1 on that list. Malone doesn't rank with either of them in their individual sports.

Yeh...I noticed that little pot shot at Dan too, makes you wonder if Boomer Esiason wrote the article.
