Dan Marino NOT in ESPN`s top 10

There is NO WAY that Elway should be ranked higher than Danny.

Did Elway break the top 10?

It doesn't bother me that Marino wasn't mentioned as long as John wasn't either.

They have Smellway as the 7th best player in history!

I will give Montana and Elway some love because there were times when they carried their teams...But NOONE has ever carried their entire franchise for as long or as well as Dan Marino and I don't care what anybody says!:fire:

Czonk...man, Montana never had to carry his team...that's a crock...Montana was surrounded by great players for almost his entire career..Elway, Favre, Marino, Unitas...those were QBs that could and did carry their teams...Montana had an easy time of things...

Elway was 7

You obviously never saw him play...he is an obnoxious itiot outside of football, but he made Lewis and LT look like second tier...

That is a very bold statement, he too was great but L. Taylor and Lewis in his prime were absolute beasts... Sometimes I think people forget just how good Lawerence Taylor was because he can't stay of the rock.. To me all 3 were bar-none the best in there ERA but hard to compare.

Yeah...I'm feelin' ya....But In the very early days...like in the championship game against Dallas with "THE Catch"....He kind of put them on the map by beating the favored Cowboys....But I agree with you for the most part...As far as "carrying their team"...Montana is nowhere close to Marino...which is what I meant with my original post.

I hate polls.

Answer me this though. Why everytime people talk about the "greatest" QB's Dan is always mentioned right around Montana shortly after? It's like people want to put him up there but due to the ******ation of him not getting a ring it's like a strike against his legacy. I can think of millions of players who were better then a lot of people who won multiple SB rings, World Series, etc.

Does anyone know of a better signature on FH than CsonkaClone has?

Right. We all saw how average Montana could be in his last couple 49ner years and then the sad stint in KC. Marino, no matter how bad the supporting cast could never be classified as average. I think Elway was a better individual QB than Montana, but even he only won rings when he got help

he took KC to the AFC Championship :goof: ...which is as far as Marino ever got after 84

It's weird, the SB stipulation only exists for QBs. Jim Brown is #1 on that list, but the requirment is not applied to him, yet he was still the "leader" on the field. barry sanders hardly ever sniffed the playoffs, much less the SB, but he'll go down as one of the top 5 RB ever. Marino is the only player I know who has the proverbial "but" attached to his name in every one of these kinds of conversations

Good for him, but he was still average. Marino got there 3 times after '84. ironically, it was a superior bills team that stood in thw ay of both Marino and Montana. So you indirectly make my point for me: Montana as we saw in 93, showed he was not better than Marino when armed with an average team going up against much superior and balanced competition.

Is anybody else at least mildly surprised that Brett Favre is nowhere on that list, not even after the top ten? With all the media love he gets, you'd think he would have at least made an appearance.

look, neither of us are going to sway the other...you have your opinion, i have mine. I think Joe Montana is the best qb of alltime, you think Danny...just agree to disagree

Big Deal. 10 people polled do NOT make an accurate sample. Look who's being asked...Mark Sclereth (He played with Elway) Sal Palontonio, John Clayton, when did these guys play in the NFL? I think that Jerry Rice is the best player (next to Dan, of course) because his numbers and his achievements dwarf everybody else's.

Why would Elway not be considered a better QB he went to how many SB's thats got to count for something
