Hall of Fame Miami Dolphins quarterback Dan Marino was on The Joe Rose Show on Monday on WQAM-560 and, with the Super Bowl less than a week away, talk turned to his one career regret:

Q: There are a lot of guys who have had great careers that haven't won championships, Danny, and they throw you out there first all the time when they're talking about players who haven't won it. Does the stuff bother you when you hear that?
A: It doesn't bother me as much, but there's no doubt that that's the one thing in my life and in sports, just feeling what that would be like. There's no doubt that there's sometimes I think about that, even today. When I'm watching the Super Bowl, that's going to be coming into my mind for sure. That's just part of life, man. I never had that feeling, and that's the feeling you want to have as a player as you've worked your whole life.

One of the BIGGEST travesties in sports, not just cause I a Fins Fan. As much I as I like Shula. He had Poor Defenses and not all the Offensive Weapons (stud running back) Marino needed. I am always in defense of Marino anytime people of other teams bring up the fact he did not win the Superbowl, and I tell them "Don't go there". Danny was the reason I started liking the Dolphins back in 1988 growing up in Northern California and HATING the 49ers.

Would have been sick to see Marino playing today!

For sure he'd be setting all kinds of records (even more than he already had).

He just happen to be a guy playing in the wrong era.

he was a major catalyst in the evolution of this new era

Don Shula screwed him. No running game and a defense that was never good enough. With the offense he had, especially in the eighties, there's no reason why Marino shouldn't have had at least 2 rings.

With Dan, we played in 3 conference championships, winning 1. We then lost to the 49'ers in the super bowl.
He realistically had a chance a 3 super bowls.
We were in the playoffs as a division winner a few more times, with loss at SD the closest to another CC.
Shame.

That '92 AFC Championship loss to the Bills hurt the worst to me. I had a bad feeling that was Marino's last good shot.

That game hurt the most. More than any Dolphins game I ever watched. I was 12 years old, and my friend was watching it with me, laughing. Did I mention he's a BILLS FAN?!?!

Worst. Game. Ever.

I was at the game. We were winning at one point and the fans were shouting "Bills suck" and "Screw the Bills" while we were winning. Later, when the Bills came storming back, Bruce Smith, and other players line up chorus line style and bent over and wiggled their ***** at us. Like they were saying "Kiss my ***". There were a lot of fights going on in the stands. It was great fun...even though we lost. I miss that degree of fan support and intensity. Our games now are like a tennis match. Other than 1984, that 1992 team was super bowl strong.

IF this team ever gets back to the level of powerhouse, is it possible to sign Marino to a one day contract, not dress him and get him a ring?

He might not, but that would be great!

Not only great he'd get a ring, but great the Phins would finally win a SB in my lifetime!
